Community Leadership Category Guidelines and Application Form

Community Leadership Programs are an annual program that offers participants with a range of experiences and opportunities. Leadership skills include those necessary for decision-making, policy development, program implementation and organisational maintenance. Community groups can apply for a grant to subsidise the cost of a group member to attend or access a Community Leadership Program. This funding category will provide:

·  Scholarships or subsidies to attend a Community Leadership Program *; and

·  Improving access to Leadership Programs.

*Approval of a scholarship or subsidy is subject to acceptance by an individual into a community leadership program.

There are six Community Leadership Programs across rural and regional Victoria:

Fairley Leadership

Community Leadership Loddon Murray

Leadership Wimmera

Leaders for Geelong

Gippsland Community Leadership

Leadership Ballarat and Western Region

Alpine Valleys Community Leadership

Who can apply?

Not-for-profit community based organisations with an ABN or Incorporation Certificate can apply for funds to support an individual from their organisation to attend a Community Leadership Program. Applications from locally based organisations will be prioritised. (Please note no specific tax status is required)

Each Community Leadership Program has its own selection process. Successful STEPS funding is dependent on being offered a place at a Community Leadership Program.

Eligibility Criteria:

·  Projects must directly relate to communities affected by or impacted by the Victorian 2009 Bushfires

·  Projects must be for a charitable purpose (benefit the wider community). All applications for projects with a charitable purpose will be considered.

·  Projects which contribute to community renewal and/or rebuilding in the areas of social and community wellbeing, economic, environment, health, education and culture will be considered.

·  Projects requiring assistance which can demonstrate a benefit to the community in the medium to long-term recovery process.

·  Applicant organisations must have an ABN or Incorporation Certificate

·  Grant amounts of between $100 and $30,000 are available.
