We are seeking to appoint a Coordinator/Administrator who will take responsibility for the development of volunteering within Community House and oversee some aspects of the day-to-day running of the centre.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to promote and organise volunteers in a range of areas that may include community projects, work with children and young people, working with older people, administration, information technology and gardening/centre maintenance.
You will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to work alongside a diverse range of groups and individuals who have very different needs.
The days and times will vary to meet the needs of user groups and Trustees although some flexibility regarding times, days and number of weeks,
eg. school terms, may be negotiated by the successful candidate.
SALARY: £8.50 per hour for approximately 20 hours per week.
[We will be seeking additional funding to increase the numbers of hours.]

To support the work of Community House Management Committee in building a caring community in Maindee.
Principal Tasks
1. To build effective relationships with community members, Community House users, the Management Committee and voluntary and statutory sector partners.
2. To promote the opportunity to volunteer at Community House within the local and wider community. This will include marketing, networking, building and maintaining relationships and developing partnership arrangements.
3. To undertake a range of recruitment activities to attract volunteers, eg. writing advertisements, mail drops, running face to face events.
4. To undertake informal interviews of volunteers including assessing potential volunteers suitability.
5. To facilitate induction and training activities.
6. To organise volunteers, including delegating tasks and matching volunteers and responsibilities depending on skills.
7. To mentor volunteers, encouraging personal development.
8. To support the development of a team, negotiating and managing relationships between volunteers who may have different needs and priorities.
9. To be flexible in your approach to work and the willingness to travel to promote Community House as appropriate.
10. To respond to users’ requests for bookings and undertake all tasks relating to this.
11. To oversee and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the Community House building eg. daily checks of building, staffing the reception area, processing mail, answering telephone and emails.
12. To take part in identifying own development and training needs and to be committed to attending appropriate training and development opportunities

14. To undertake other related duties as are required to meet the needs of Community House.
