ROLE: / Secret World Wildlife Rescue is the South West’s leading wildlife rescue and rehabilitation charity, rarely out of the media and highly respected by leading wildlife presenters such as Simon King and Chris Packham. We provide a 24 hour, 7 days a week, wildlife service dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and eventual release of British wildlife. Last year we helped over 5,500 animals.
To support our plans for growth we need to significantly increase our income, with particular focus on sustainable sources. To achieve this we recognise the importance of exceptional supporter relationship development and excellent promotion of Secret World Wildlife Rescue.
The post of Community & Events Fundraiser is responsible for contributing to the development of a cost effective fundraising strategy. This will include delivering fundraising through local supporters, business groups and associations within the community. As the contact for fundraising within the local area you will represent and promote the work, vision and purpose of Secret World Wildlife Rescue, whilst also promoting the delivery of local and national fundraising initiatives and campaigns.

You will use your exceptional people skills to motivate volunteers and develop innovative ways of generating income through our in-house events. You will be a determined and results-focused fundraiser, as well as having the ability to connect with people from across the organisation.
OBJECTIVES: / · To research, plan, market, develop, manage and evaluate a portfolio of existing and new community fundraising activities whilst providing excellent supporter care to ensure long term commitment.
· To take responsibility for the growing the income and ROI from our programme of in house events, and ensuring increased income from other event activity
· Contribute to the overall development of fundraising at Secret World Wildlife Rescue by playing a proactive role in the Fundraising Team and the wider Secret World team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: / Community:
· To recruit, service and develop core groups of supporters/advocates/volunteers who will support fundraising and awareness raising of the invaluable work that Secret World Wildlife Rescue carry out with our British Wildlife
· To develop relationships with community based organisations for fundraising and awareness initiatives
· Deliver talks to groups as required, and undertake training of volunteers to do the same
· Manage the system of food bins at stores across the area, ensuring gifts are recorded, costed and supporters are updated and thanked appropriately
· To work alongside the Learning and Outreach Manager to maximize income from schools and other youth groups
Events:
· Organise and develop the fundraising aspects of Secret World Wildlife Open Weekends and other in house events and community events
· To support third party eventers taking part in activities to raise money for Secret World
· To research and propose new fundraising events
Volunteers:
· Work alongside the Volunteer Co-ordinator to recruit enough volunteers to support the fundraising and communications team and assign roles appropriate to their interests and skill set
· Manage the volunteer community co-ordinator and support them in arranging manned collections, sourcing and training additional volunteers as necessary
· Set up and manage a process for increasing the number of collection boxes across the area
Supporter Care:
· To provide excellent supporter care to ensure long term commitment to the organisation through regular and timely contact, whether via face-to-face meeting, telephone, email or post.
· Identify, develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with third party agencies as required
Charity Partnerships:
· To nurture and account manage relationships with companies, groups and associations in order to maximize both income and gifts in kind from these sources
Marketing:
· Work with the Communications Officer to ensure that media relations are effectively utilised to promote events, developing and implementing cross channel plans for each activity
· Design and print marketing literature, materials and signage as required, in line with Secret World brand guidelines.
Admin:
· To be responsible for handling correspondence via post, email or the website and responding effectively to telephone enquiries
· To take responsibility for related data management including data input, amendment, running reports and creating data queries as necessary.
· To keep relevant sections of the website up to date and manage the process of events registration making sure that correspondence, event packs and other related materials are provided to supporters in a timely manner.
Monitor and Evaluate income and expenditure:
· To be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the performance of marketing activities, and return on investment.
· Monitor income and costs of fundraising activities against budget

Essential / DesirableQualifications: / Educated to degree level / IoF Certificate in Fundraising
Experience: / · Minimum 2 years experience of successful fundraising management
· Demonstrable experience of growing existing events and developing successful new ones
· Working to budgets and meeting/exceeding targets
· Working with external agencies and suppliers / · Voluntary sector experience
· Motivation and direct support of volunteers
· Experience of working with a complex relational fundraising database such as Donorflex

Must be willing to work weekends, bank holidays and out of hours which will be replaced by time off in lieu
Training
While database proficiency is essential, training in DonorFlex database systems will be provided if required. Fundraising training through workshops and seminars will also be available.
