Community Engagement and Employment Intern

Essential Responsibilities: Community Engagement

●Work with Support Specialists by providing additional assistance to adults with disabilities in community activities

○Ability to commit to the same activity each week (art courses, cooking classes, etc.)

○Activity is on a consistent day of the week

●Provide effective and consistent communication with team members, families, case managers, and other interested parties regarding service delivery and individual progress

●Complete additional tasks assigned as needed

Essential Responsibilities: Employment Consultant

●Support Employment Consultants with their current caseload

○Finding real, fair-wage paying, independent jobs for those not currently working or looking to further their careers by:

●Conducting phone surveys to fill out Person Centered Descriptions to establish criteria for a successful job match

●Utilizing typical job seeking tactics to find open opportunities

○Assist with administrative work

●Coordinate transportation for individuals by working with Metro Mobility to schedule rides to and from work

●Assist with reimbursing uber prices and billing with Metro Mobility cards

●Write short essays and biographies for our blog (

○Use Gmail and Google calendar on a daily basis, learn new 245D licensing standards, utilize various operating systems, online databases, and online timekeeping systems

Education:

●High school diploma or equivalent required

●Some college completed with a related major

●Students who are receiving educational credit hours for interning with CIP

Qualifications:

●Good written, oral, and customer service communication skills

●Provide physical assistance based on activities to individuals supported by CIP

●Students looking for experience working hands-on with adults with disabilities and wanting to learn how to support them in their independent futures

●Be willing to integrate your educational knowledge into working with individuals on a daily basis

●Must pass a Department of Human Services background study

●HIPAA Regulations

●How to work with a Q’Straint (car restraints for wheelchairs)

●Vulnerable Adult Policies

Hours:

Internship hours vary depending on individual’s schedule and availability to work

●Dependant on the community activity chosen at the beginning of the internship

●Interns will be expected to be present each week for their activity
