- Brief discussion held regarding math scores. Westbrook had a 73.2% score at the end of last year and we need to be at 79%. The lower score is believed to be due to the new math program. Test scores are expected to go up this year.
- Danene Howell discussed the Star Reading program and the need for volunteers. Volunteers would need to commit to two ½ hour sessions per week. Each volunteer will be assigned to read with the same student throughout the year. There are approximately 100 students that would utilize and benefit from this program. The deadline to turn in volunteer names to earn books is November 30th.
- Karen Chatterton and Josh Nielsen raised the issue of the no parking zones and other parking issues. It was decided to hold a parking enforcement meeting with the community. Mrs. Chatterton will coordinate with the Unified Police Department to have our assigned officer there to speak to concerns and safety. It is hopeful we will have volunteers sign up to help monitor the parking lot during heavy traffic times. Tentative time for the meeting will be held November 6, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.
- Information about the Start Reading program and parking meeting will be sent home in the newsletter.
- Next meeting will be November 26th 8:15 a.m.
Remember this week is district training.
