  1. Police Report

Vandalism is a priority at the moment for the Police, they have caught some of the taggers and are seeking to limit their movements. Wednesdays are bad days for vandalism, people on way home from town, there are a lot of promos on Wednesdays for students.

They are targeting the multi-storeys – drug dealers, people coming into multis to get drugs. They will give people info about homeless shelters the first time they are found sleeping in a bin shelter or such like, second time they’ll get arrested for trespass – they may keep coming back as it could be close to their dealer. There were also people sleeping in a wash-room on Powis Place.

We are getting a new Inspector, Stuart Ord who will be taking over on the 6th of December, we look forward to working with him closely. We wish Ian all the best and thank him for being so approachable in the short time he has been involved with the Community Council.

  1. Fairer Scotland Fund

We put in 2 applications; One to get the lighting on Catherine St improved, and one to do an art project on boarding on the Broadford Mill site. Both were unfortunately declined.

  1. Broadford Mill

Andy May may be able to help in trying to push for better boarding on the Mill.

  1. Fun Day

There is a Total Community Vehicle which may be able to come to our Fun Day, we are looking at the 9th or the 16th of May possibly, we will check if this clashes with any other local event.

The next meeting of GSCC (Joint CC & Network) will be on Tuesday 13th January 2009 - Catherine St Community Centre (off George St) 7.30 pm.
