Current Related Program or Courses: Health Information Technology Associate degree program, non-credit training/certificates in LEEN processes, A+ certification, Network+ certification and previously Microsoft Office Specialist.
How long have programs been established? HIT Associate degree was established 15 years ago; the non-credit certificates have been in existence about 10 years.
Number of students served in the program/s annually: HIT program has an average of 40 students enrolled annually. Non-credit certificate enrollment varies. LEEN classes average 40+ employees annually; A+ and Network+ certificates are taken by 15-20 students annually.

Same as above, but 2 Implementation support specialist classes and 2 Implementation managers. Note: There could be more than two modules or components of the Practice Workflow and Clinician/practitioner training offered by the second year depending on workforce needs and skill levels.

On-Line:Yes. KVCC offered 200 on-line classes in Fall 2009.
Hybrid: Yes, about 25-30% of on-line classes are hybrid.

Workforce Investment Board
XCare providers: hospitals, clinics, private businesses: MaineGeneral Health; Eastern Maine Medical Center; possible Maine Medical Center, numerous related practices and clinics. These agencies will help market, recruit, refer and deliver the training.
XState Health Information Exchange: Maine Health InfoNet will provide input to program design and help market the programs.

Union of labor groups
XRepresentatives from the National Assoc. of State Directors of Career and Technical Education Consortiums: KVCC has close connections with the State Dept. of Education that delivers Perkins and career pathways programs. The Director can help KVCC develop more articulation agreements in the Health IT area.
XState and local related committees or association: Maine Quality Forum, State Coordinator for DIRIGO Health has been integral to the KVCC project with input and connections to relevant state agencies.

Maine is taking the lead in health information exchange and just launched one of the largest health exchange web-sites in the nation. Partner hospitals have been gearing up for moving their IT systems to the next level, but welcome the extra resources and impetus from the ARRA opportunities.
KVCC has the only HIT Associate degree program in the state of Maine and is a leader among the Maine community colleges in health care education.
