Communities In Schools of Kalamazoo/Greater Kalamazoo Girls on the Run has the following employment opportunity and is seeking action oriented candidates with outstanding marketing and communications skills and experience, and the ability to quickly engage potential and current volunteers, manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a team environment working under time constraints, and who understand and embrace diversity and inclusiveness in thought, word and actions.

Position Title:Girls on the Run MARKETING AND FUND DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

Position Status: 10-15 hours per week on average; this is a seasonal position October 1 through May 31 with potential for adjustment in subsequent years

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing and Fund Development Assistant

  • Assist with the overall marketing of programs, 5ks and special events. Attend GOTR marketing and fund development committee meetings.
  • Assist with the overall volunteer recruitment and tracking for community partner events including the Kal Haven Trail Relay and Kalamazoo Marathon and related events.
  • Assist in the marketing and recruitment of Girls on the Run SoleMates.
  • Attend community events (i.e. expos, festivals, health fairs) to promote GOTR programming and recruit volunteers, SoleMates, donors and sponsors.
  • Assist in the writing of press releases and Girls on the Run blog, responding to media inquiries, arranging interviews, identifying stakeholders and the best way to communicate with them.
  • Assist with the maintenance of organization website ensuring that all its information is accurate and updated regularly.
  • Assist in the development of multimedia tools as needed. Review and archive photographs and other media.
  • Assist in managing social media to create and maintain a favorable image for Girls on the Run and communicate and energize stakeholders.
  • Work with graphic artists to prepare ads, brochures, fliers, videos, etc. and work with printers to secure quotes and print jobs.
  • Ensure adherence to the Girls on the Run International brand identity standards.
  • Assist with donor, sponsor and stakeholder relations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • High degree of organizational ability and the ability to work independently with limited supervision. A demonstrated capacity to manage many projects and activities simultaneously and work under time constraints;
  • Ability to clearly articulate program mission and impact and generate interest and excitement about Girls on the Run;
  • Demonstrated creativity;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff and program volunteers to support the mission of Girls on the Run;
  • Experience with e-mail marketing campaigns, content management systems and social media tools preferred;
  • Requires experience with personal computers and proficiency using word processing software, spreadsheets, the internet, electronic mail, and databases;
