Communication Device Identifying Status Using the LEDs

Understand what the communication device is doing by viewing the lights above your network cable socket. The blinking patterns will help you identify the device's status and problems.

Common Issues

LED Behavior:No lights

Appearance:

What it means:Power not applied

Remedy:

  • Use only the AC Adapter that came with your device.
  • Ensure the AC adapter connector is seated properly.
  • Plug the AC adapter into an outlet that has power.
  • If this outlet is controlled by a switch, make sure it is on.
  • If no lights appear after plugging the device into several working outlets, request a replacement Communication Device.

LED Behavior:Left LED on (yellow), but right LED remains dark.

Apperance:

What it means:Communication Device not functioning

Remedy:

  • Wait 30 seconds after power is applied.
  • Pull out your power connector from your device, and then reconnect the power (“Power cycle”).
  • Wait another 30 seconds. If the right LEDs (orange and green) do not light after power is reapplied, request a replacement.

LED Behavior:Green LED is lit - not blinking

Appearance:

What it means:Initializing

Remedy:This is a normal part of your startup routine.

LED Behavior:Orange and green LEDs flash rapidly for approx. 5 seconds

Appearance:

What it means:Getting network information

Remedy:This is a normal part ofyour startup routine.

LED Behavior:Orange LED lit but not blinking

Appearance:

What it means:

  • Not connected to an active network port
  • No wired network cable attached

Remedy:

Configured for Wireless

  • The orange LED will go out after approximately 8 seconds and the green LED will be lit.

Not Configured for Wireless

  • Attach your communication device to an active network port.

LED will blink:Orange: not connected to a meterORGreen: connected to a meter

To test your network port, connect a computer to it with a Network Cable and try to access an internet site.

LED Behavior:Orange LED blinking

Appearance:

What it means:The Communication Device is ready to be connected to the meter

Remedy:This is a normal part ofyour startup routine.

LED Behavior:Flashing Green LED

Appearance:

What it means:The meter is able to communicate with the Internet.

Remedy:This is the normal operational state of the Communication Device.

LED BehaviorAny other blinking pattern

Appearance:

What it means:

Wireless Operation

  • Wireless Network ID or Wireless password was not entered correctly.

Wired Operation

  • One or more settings are not correct.

You can troubleshoot the error using the problem number displayed on the meter screen and the blinking patterns on the Communication Device.
