Commonwealth Games Arrangements Regulations 2005

S.R. No. 84/2005

Part 1—Preliminary

1.Objective

The objective of these Regulations is to prescribe Commonwealth Games related indicia or images for the purposes of the Commonwealth Games Arrangements Act 2001.

2.Authorising provision

These Regulations are made under section 57 of the Commonwealth Games Arrangements Act 2001.

3.Definition

In these Regulations, "the Act" means the Commonwealth Games Arrangements Act 2001.

Part 2—Games Related Indicia or Images

4.Commonwealth Games mascot

(1)For the purposes of paragraph (c) of the definition of "Games related indicia or images" and Part 5A of the Act, "Karak", being any image or characterisation of a South-eastern red-tailed black cockatoo, the general design of which is set out in Part 1 of Schedule 1, is prescribed to be a Commonwealth Games mascot.

(2)The Commonwealth Games mascot prescribed under sub-regulation (1) includes, but is not limited to, that mascot in the forms set out in Part2 of Schedule 1.

5.Commonwealth Games pictograms

For the purposes of paragraph (d) of the definition of "Games related indicia or images" and Part 5A of the Act, the pictograms set out in Schedule 2 are prescribed to be Commonwealth Games pictograms.

6.Other Commonwealth Games indicia or images

For the purposes of paragraph (e) of the definition of "Games related indicia or images" and Part 5A of the Act, the images set out in Schedule 3 are prescribed to be Commonwealth Games indicia or images.

7.Commonwealth Games references

For the purposes of paragraph (f) of the definition of "Games related indicia or images" and Part 5A of the Act, the following words, expressions and figures are prescribed to be Commonwealth Games references—

(a)"Karak";

(c)"United by the Moment".

8.Expiry

These Regulations expire and cease to have effect on 31 December 2006.

The Commonwealth Games Arrangements Regulations 2005, S.R.No.84/2005 were made on 5July 2005 by the Lieutenant-Governor as the Governor's Deputy with the advice of the Executive Council under section 57 of theCommonwealth Games Arrangements Act 2001, No.57/2001 and came into operation on 5 July 2005.

The Commonwealth Games Arrangements Regulations 2005 will sunset on 31 December 2006: regulation 8.
