Teacher will open the topic by reading from the big book “Food Fractions”. Students will take home-schools connection page over fractions of shapes.

Lesson 16-1 Geometry: Making Equal Parts

Teacher will open the lesson with three problems for students to copy on paper from the white board on page D16-1 Daily Common Core Review 16-1. Teacher will go over answers in class. Students will determine whether a shape is divided into equal or unequal parts.

Vocabulary: equal parts

Students will do pages 517-520 together in class.

Quick Check 16-1 Students will solve 3 fractions of shape problems independently. Next, students will use practice workbook page 16-1 making equal parts.

Lesson 16-2 Describing Equal Parts of Whole Objects

Students will do pages 521-524 together in class.
