Commission on Liturgy and Popular Religiosity / 2017 – Year of the Parish as Communion of Communities
“Iba’t-ibang Biyaya sa Iisang Simbahayan” / Proposed Programs for 2017
Objective / Flagship / Understand that all liturgical activities and popular devotions, diverse as they may be, are intended to build the parish community
§  The liturgy is the primary binding force in the parish, and popular devotions help strengthen it / §  Conference on the relationship of devotions to the liturgy (to be held during the February Clergy Assembly; invited also will be the CLPR and PPC Coordinators)
GOAL 1 / `
To emphasize the reality that devotional practices strengthen and enrich the expression of faith and communal life of the parish
§  To secure copies of rites/celebrations also of religious congregations in the diocese
§  To emphasize what is essential and important in terms of enhancing one’s faith / §  Gathering of the following from all parishes:
ü  Name of patron and co-patron (if any)
ü  Feast day and date of feast for 2017
ü  Copy of the novena being used
GOAL 2 / `
To celebrate parish fiesta as an occasionto concretely experience “communion” among the parishioners
§  To make people aware of the spiritual importance of parish fiestas, and that it is not just a social event
§  To emphasize what is essential in celebrating parish fiestas
§  To come up with guidelines for parishes in planning their fiesta celebration / §  Request parishes to submit an evaluation of their parish fiesta celebration based on the guidelines given during the February Conference. Purpose is for DCLPR’s evaluation/monitoring.
GOAL 3 / `
To realize that various popular devotions spring forth and culminate in liturgical celebrations for the building up of the community
§  To make every liturgical celebration of the parish, not just a gathering to worship, but a fellowship of the community
(Examples: quarterly a particular Mass will be followed by an agape; coffee and pandesal after every other “Simban Gabi”; Living Rosary every last Saturday of the month, even if it’s not October)
§  “Ang pagsisimba ay hindi lang pagsasamba kundi pagsasama-sama.” / §  Guidelines on how to make churches and chapels conducive “sacred spaces” to allow room for personal introspection and prayer
§  Video clips to encourage parishioners to actively participate in the activities of the parish
§  Penitential Rites before ‘Kumpisalang Bayan’
