Men’s Game of the Week – Squires vs. StrongArms (A League)

The Squires are one of the original Legends teams. This was back in the day when there was only one men’s league and players such as Ron Cortese, Dick Beville and Lamont McKenzie were much younger. Rumor has it, some of them even had hair back then. Running together for the first time in years, the Squires started off slowly and were down by close to 20 at one point. However, they made a valiant comeback and escaped with a 36 to 34 win against the Fall Season runner-up StrongArms, no less! Hallenback had 12 and Newsome had 9 for the Squires. The StrongArms were led by Kissling who had 12 and McCleary who finished with 7.

Ladies Game of the Week – B Team vs. Angels

A new team, “B Team” took on the Angels in the first ladies game of the season. After taking a couple of seasons off, Adams made her return to spark the team with 14 points and led B Team to a 42 to 38 victory. Armstrong chipped in with 10 and Stensrud added 8. The Angels were led by Barkalow who had 18 and Prange and Huley who added 10 each.

Legend of the Week – Moniello (Borg)

New team the Borg has a bonified superstar in Moniello. Moniello went off for 31 points in the Borg’s 63 to 48 victory over the Thangs. Included in the 31 points were at least 6 three pointers. Memo to the rest of the B league – get a body on this guy! As they said in Karate Kid, Sweep the leg!

Moniello!

Other Stars in No Particular Order:

1)L. Hay(Ninja) –A new team in the Elite League, the Ninja drew a tough opening game matchup against the defending champions RimRockers. Well, it was tough for the RimRockers who got smoked 62 to 37 as Hay led the way with 20.

Coach Hay pushes tempo and helps crush defending champ RimRockers!

2)Silkowitz (Mantua) – Silkowitz powered the Mantua to a 76 to 54 victory over the Killers with 20 points…did someone say Elite?!

3)Pitts (Thangs) –Pitts kept the Thangs in the game against the Borg as he led the way with 28 points.

4)Sethi (Islanders) – Sethi only showed up for one of his team’s two games, however, he made it count scoring 23 and keeping the Islanders in the game against the Zephyrs. The Islanders fell though 47 to 33.

Ladies Legend of the Week – Adams (Team B)

See above. Adams showed little rust in her return to Legends action.

Christi surveys the opposition.

Other Stars in No Particular Order:

1)Nicole Kiffe (Grippers) – In the Grippers 17 point win over the Goddesses, Kiffe led the way with 16.
