Ladies Game of the Week, Month, Year, Ever – Angels vs. Lightning
In a game that was beyond thrilling and seemed to have no end, the Angels and the Lightning played an all-time classic that went to not one, not two, but three overtimes. The action started innocently enough with the Angels having roughly a ten point lead at halftime. The Angels were raining three pointers from all over the court as they built this lead with only 4 players for most of the half. The second half saw the Lightning begin their comeback. Lightning mainstays Denise Stubbs and Carolina Soto simply refused to let their team lose as they slowly clawed their way back. However, it was Leonda Lee who was to put it best, absolutely astounding, hitting three pointers, two pointers, anything and everything that really fueled the rally. In the end, the Lightning held on for a breathtaking 68 to 66 triple overtime win. Lee finished with a stunning 34 points including the game winner, a three pointer to force one overtime and a three pointer force another overtime. Hunt also chipped in with 10 and Soto added 8.
Mens Game of the Week – RimRockers vs. Sharks (Elite League)
The RimRockers took on the Sharks in another overtime battle in the Elite league. With Don Robinson and Lester Maynard leading the way, the RimRockers edged the Sharks 55 to 54. Robinson finished with 19 and Maynard added 14. The Sharks were led by Fisher’s 23 and Fang’s 9. The win was key for the RimRockers who moved one game above .500 on the season.
Ladies Legend of the Week – Leonda Lee (Lightning)
See above. There really is not that much more to say about her performance. It was simply astounding.
Lee watches one of her shots fall.
Other Stars in No Particular Order:
1)Johnson (Thunder) – Johnson led the way for the Thunder with 28 points as they defeated the Grippers 54 to 40.
2)Sara McIntosh (Grippers) – Sara had a nice game leading the Grippers with 17 in the loss to the Thunder.
3)Marrone (Shooters) – In a tough 73 to 32 loss to the mighty Wolves, Marrone had a great game with 19 points.
Legend of the Week – Sharman (Mantua)
In a tough battle against the Wildcats, Sharman paced the way with 22 points. Every one of those points was needed in the 55 to 53 victory for the Mantua.
Sharman leads the charge.
Other Stars in No Particular Order:
1)Zenker (BadaBings) – Zenker (LOW in Week 3) continued his excellent season with another great performance, powering his way to 27 points as the BadaBings took care of the Elders 56 to 44.Also, the following thoughtful nomination for Zenker from an Elder opponent:”I would like to nominate the center on the Bada-Bings (The big guy who scored all the points) as Legend of the Week. In addition to playing well (few turnovers, rebounding, scoring from inside, 3-pointers), he played with a good attitude. In fact, his whole team did. They played hard but not out of control, and they could congratulate us during the game on some good plays we made, as we did them. When both teams share a laugh heading down the court after a bad call or a lucky bounce, you are playing in the Legends spirit.”
2)Evans (Kings) – Evans led the way with 22 points in the Kings 58 to 48 victory over the Killers.
3)Arft (Wildcats) - Arft scored 22 as well in the Wildcats loss to the Mantua.
4)Toler (Jackals) – While the Jackals may have lost to the Xmen, 60 to 50, Toler had a nice game with 25 points.
Toler gets 2 of his 25…
…while Jackals’ Deedman plays keep-away from Xman Edmund.
