It is important for the Cantor/Commentator to have (and refer to) the PEW CARD so that s/he may recite the proper responses throughout the entire liturgy. Such responses should be declared clearly and with appropriate cadence so that the rest of the Faithful may join together in declarations/responses.

2 minutes prior to the Introductory Rites, the Commentator begins:

C Welcome to ______on this 10th Sunday of Ordinary Time. As you are here to worship God, you can do so by participating fully, by singing out, and praying aloud. Help us praise God well.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; whom should I dread? When those who do evil draw near, they stumble and fall.

Immediately, the Commentator continues:

For Christians in politics, that they may be honest and strong, and that they may help spread Christ’s message to all the world through their actions… We pray to the Lord.

For those in grief, that they may be consoled by the prayers of Mary, Mother of the afflicted… We pray to the Lord.

For the children in this community, that they may learn and live the true faith… We pray to the Lord.

For the suffering, (especially ______), may they receive comfort and healing… We pray to the Lord.
