El Montevideo Neighborhood Meeting

Call To Order

Wayne (current president) called meeting to order

Introductions – attendance of 38-40 neighbors

Ira spoke to our status as an historic neighborhood, wanted all to ensure they registered as such for their property taxes

Ira also gave us an update on streets in the 50s and his history in the neighborhood.

Wayne has access to the neighborhood website

Executive Committee Nominations

Nominations for neighborhood association Executive Committee were made as follows:

Hanna Miller nominated and seconded for position of President

Aron Lien stepped forward for nomination of Vice President

Jill Romero-Aleshire for Treasurer

Rebecca Block for Secretary

All nominations were seconded and then majority vote of yes ensued for all.

Shelley Devere volunteered to be the Neighborhood Watch consultant for block by block set up.

E. C. Information

Wayne described positions for the association governing body – 501 3c filings, a website, meetings have minutes for submission to file, have at least one meeting per year.

Ove confirmed there are bylaws as well as a neighborhood plan. He will make copies of the documents. Wayne let us know there is about $7000 in the current bank account. Prior association dues were $25 a year.

Ove also informed us of the Tripartite(sp?) commission that meets twice a year. This commission was created during the latest buildout at ElCon Mall which included the WalMart. Ove has been the standing member for Montevideo. Wayne also attended the last meeting. The neighborhood is contacted when meetings occur.

Neighborhood Communication and Future Events

General consensus among the group that the Facebook page is a very useful tool for the neighborhood as well as using email and the kiosk on Camino del Norte.

Next meeting – proposed to have social events as well as regular meetings. Mary mentioned prior yard parties for the neighborhood.

Solicitation of what are most pressing topics that neighborhood feels are most important – helps set the agenda.

Ira mentioned that brush and bulky should only go out when pickups are going to occur. Not all the time. Makes the neighborhood look better.

Also mentioned use of the Block Captains and the old wrought iron signs that are no longer in place.

Clarification needed for what to do in order to maintain the house by house tax reduction for the historic designation.

Discussion regarding the noise violation from the concert at Abuelas as well as upcoming concert planned for 3/10.

Mention of stopping at stop signs and children

Meeting was concluded around 8:00 pm.

Hanna Miller to coordinate the next steps with the EC for new officers to be noted on the paperwork for the Corporation Commission as well as the bank account transfer.
