II.A PROPOSAL OF THE COMIDO SELF HELP GROUP

1-0INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND.

1-1 INTRODUCTION

Comido Self Help group was formed and registered in 2001 and is dually renewed. It is a communityFaith Based Organization with 18 members. The group was formed to integrate and address wanting issues affecting orphans vulnerable children, widows and the people living with HIV/AIDS. We have in the past trained PLWHIV, Home based care, provided bow hole water for the same people, paid school fees and bought uniforms for OVCS ,provided food and nutritional support for caregivers and plans to Expand the same course with installing water tanks for the People living with HIV AIDS and orphans in our community come 2011.

The level of OVCS widows, widowers, PLWHIVS, which are Hiv/Aids related are growing at an alarming rate. Though some measures have been instituted in order to which these, the effect has not been felt at the grass root. Now we intend to address this issues as we partner with you.

1-1ACTIVITIES WE INTEND TO CARRY OUT THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES

1Community health workers training for 11 days.

2Installation of water tanks for clean water for the children and PLWHIVS in the community.

3Build a center to take care of the 43 orphans and the centre for people living with HIV AIDS.

4Nutritional food support for PLWHIVS and Caregivers

5Community health care’s services.

610 Ovcs educational support for both primary &secondary.

7Monitoring and evaluation.

4. EXPECTED CHANGE TO THE COMMUNITY

Comido as a pilot Christian project within Huruma and its environs has brought a lot of changes to the community interns of service delivery. With this project in place, many will want to change their way of living by accepting Jesus Christ in their lives. Since the project is pinheaded by the church and in the same compound many are coming to the church and this will mean when the project kicks off then many will come to the church and change their ways, with new life of Jesus Christ transformation.

(a)More people will go for VCT and BCC

(b)The OVCS, widows, PLWHIVS and the community will have clear water for drinking.

(c)More OVCs and PLWHIVS will be supported and advised to go to the hospitals. And this will help reduce the premature death of PLWIVS due to lack of proper training and nutritional support.

(d)The orphan children will have a place to call home and Education.

(e)More will go for I.G. activities after being enlightened.

5. We are seeking for Program expansion grants

6. We have the LAND from the Kenya Government and Some food stuffs from the Local NGOs

And now we are seeking for 34,848 $to help us expand and reach many children suffering

TARGET POPULATION OR BENEFICIERIES

Our group intends to serve 60beneficiaries among who are our ultimate volunteers. This wills inculpate 1200 female and 800 males between the ages of 20/42 years and over 43 Orphans.

GOAL &BENEFICIERIES INVOLVEMENT

The support of once selves and that for Ovcs, water tank installation,PLWHIVS widows and widowers is our ultimate goal. And this can be achieved as the group determines toreduce the level of poverty. And at the same time the volunteer, the local government chief, CACC (Constituency Aids Control Council)the community, caregivers and CHWS plays a very big role in the project implementation.

1-9 ACTIVITIES TO BE IMPLEMENTED:

The moment we are funded, The grant support received will.

(a)Care and nurse the children

(b)Raise and install water tanks

(c)Build the orphan center

(d)Provide food and nutritional support.

(e)Train caregivers and community healthy workers

(f)Support OVCs with uniforms and high school fees.

We will closely work withCHCCACC and the Local Chief for technical service and advice

1-10 MONITORING AND EVALUATION.

In order to portray a clear picture of the projects success or failure M&E will be put in place by carrying out periodic assessment and relay the findings to relevant stakeholders

This will be done on quarterly basis with community and government getting to know what is

Happening.

The most critical thing to the success of the project is lack of funds to have the project get started.

2-2 ACTIVITY ASSESMENT

All our activities will be assessed based on the work plan and the result indicators.

Field data report will be collected by caregivers, community health workers and members from grass root and then forwarded to the office for complication and reporting. This has been going on even now.

2-3 SUSTAINABILITY STRATEGY

The Comido group has venture into, activities that generates income to the group as tailoring, Vocational training center, knitting, goat keeping, etc .

TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Community members are directly involved into the project by accessing financial information through our office Comido notice boards administration barasas, workshops and through CACC workshops . Once the books of accounts are prepared and read to members their comments will be taken with a lot of care and concern. Quarterly reports will be done, both to Samaritan purse, CACC, The local Chief and DO.

GENDER BALANCE AND CULTURE

Our group addresses gender balance by involving bothChristian men and women in leadership who help in addressing the bad norms of culture.

MISSION STATEMENT
Comido Self Help is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to the people living with HIVSAIDS in our location and district in large. The group was formed to integrate and address wanting issues affecting orphans vulnerable children, widows and the people living with HIV/AIDS. We have in the past trained PLWHIV, Home based care, provided bow hole water for the same people, paid school fees and bought uniforms for OVCS , All this has been steered up by Matthew 28: 19-20 with the purpose of sharing God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
