COMIC RELIEF REGIONALADVISOR

JOB DESCRIPTION

The main purpose of the post is to help Comic Relief’s grant-making be more accessible and informed by local priorities throughout the UK. In addition to assessing grant applications, advisors will be asked to undertake other tasks, such as promotional work and attendance at funding events or other appropriate networks as agreed by Comic Relief. However, the balance of the work will vary depending on the geographical region, the grant-making calendar and Comic Relief’s requirements.

Regionaladvisors willwork across a number of issues and need to liaise with the team managers, programme managers and other UK Grants staff where relevant.

On average advisors work around 4 days per month.

Core Tasks - you will be required to undertake
  • Assess applications, including interpreting financial accounts and data including on site visits and liaison with other funders and agencies, where appropriate.
  • Produce assessment reports making recommendations for funding.
  • Attend regional or national funding forumsas requested.
  • Participate in Comic Relief-organised training / meeting sessions throughout the year, involving travel to the London office. There are usually two meetings a year, each of two days.
  • Take part in special initiatives for example, being a member of the decision making panel for the annual Community Cash programme or attending meetings on a particular issue at the request of a programme manager
  • Ensure adequate records are kept, including time sheets, records of visits etc to submit regular invoices for any Comic Relief work you have undertaken
  • To assist with identifying projects with strong communication and fundraising potential for Comic Relief campaigns.
  • To participate in an annual performance review.
Other Tasks - you may be asked to undertake
  • Facilitate and encourage applications in the areas of priority for grant making and explain the procedure and criteria to applicants.
  • Represent the work of Comic Relief, when required, to the voluntary sector, trusts, local/regional funders’ fora, local government in the region.
  • Undertake research and write reports providing relevant regional information, to assist Comic Relief in the development of grant giving criteria and policies.
  • Participate in the UK Grants short-listing meetings as required.
  • Any other tasks as requested by Comic Relief.

Terms

A guaranteed income of £1,000 will be available for this work at an hourly rate of £36.38per hour with travel at £18.18 per hour. If you are requested to undertake work additional to this figure the same hourly rates will apply.

Appointments are issued for one year (renewable).

Interviews will be held on:29 May 2013 in Manchester

Successful applicants will be required to attend a two day training event in London on 24 and 25 June 2013. (Accommodation will be provided).
