BARBARA C. BEAZLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
2012-2013
Columbia County Foundation for Children (CCFC), a 501 (c 3) non-profit, awards educational scholarships to qualified applicants for academic or technical training beyond high school. Scholarships are awarded based on an applicant’s academic background, career goals, written recommendation, personal interview and financial need. The scholarship fund is named in honor of Barbara C. Beazley who founded the organization and is a tribute to her lifelong commitment to helping children in Columbia County.
The specific amount of a CCFC scholarship depends upon the applicant’s institution of choice and acceptance as well as the number of scholarships awarded for the year. The CCFC scholarship is a need-based scholarship. Recipients may reapply for additional academic years.
APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
· 23 years of age or under
· Resident of Columbia County
· ”C” average or higher in high school is mandatory and academic average must be
maintained throughout applicant’s academic career should a recipient reapply
· Intention to attend or currently attending an accredited academic or technical college
· Completed CCFC Scholarship Application, including all requested financial
documentation, letters of recommendation, essay(s), and proof of academic standing submitted by the stated deadline (This scholarship may be applied for and used in addition to any other funds awarded from federal or state agencies)
· Personal interview by the CCFC Scholarship Committee
· Agreement to conditions of the CCFC Scholarship
APPLICATION DEADLINES AND RULES FOR SCHOLARSHIP CONTINUANCE
1. Scholarships will be awarded annually. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
Deadline to submit all applications and supporting documents is Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Applications received after deadline and applications received with any unanswered or incomplete questions or without all required documents will not be considered.
2. Students awarded scholarships must maintain full time status in the institution, generally 15 hours per semester or 12 hours per quarter.
3. The student/applicant must continue in the approved program to remain on scholarship. Should a student choose to change the area of study, the trustees of the scholarship must be notified in advance and must approve the request.
4. Any interruption to continuous enrollment in the approved institution must be justified in writing to prevent cancellation of the scholarship.
SCHOLARSHIP AWARD NOTIFICATION
1. All approved scholarship recipients will be notified in writing of her/his annual CCFC award.
2. The scholarship award may be granted and continued throughout a recipient’s college career. However, the Foundation retains the right to withdraw all scholarship awards. Prior notice to the applicant and/or award recipient will be given should the Foundation elect to withdraw the award.
