COLORADO COLLEGE DANCE FESTIVAL FEATURES

MASTER TEACHERS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – May 22, 2013– The 8th annual Colorado College Dance Festival, which runs June 3-14,gives participants a two-week immersion in dance with master teachers from across the country. This summer, the festival offers the unique opportunity to train with former members of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, learning the company’s unique movement style, repertory and collaborative approach tochoreography.

In addition, the festival features daily classes in modern and ballet technique, hip-hop, choreography, improvisation and Bill T. Jones repertory.

The two weeks culminate in an eclectic performance showcase at 8 p.m., Friday, June 14, featuring a variety of works original by Ayo Jackson and Rosalynde LeBlanc Loo, former members of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Colorado College Artist-in-Residence Patrizia Herminjard, alumna Casey Avaunt, collaborative works with the Summer Music Festival and spoken word poetry by members of the cross-genre writing workshop taught by Idris Goodwin and Steven Hayward.

Also, don’t miss the mime workshop with Bill Bowers from 7-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 11 in Cossitt Hall, 906 N. Cascade Avenue. Everyone welcome: $15 at the door.

The dance festival’s intensive dance instruction community members are welcome to attend classes on a drop-in basis. Classes are $15 each,single and five-class passes may be purchased from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., beginning June 3 at the Dance Festival office in Cossitt Hall, Room 104, 906 N. Cascade Ave., on the Colorado College campus.

Tickets are available for purchase beginning June 3 at the Colorado College’s Worner Center, 902 N. Cascade, $15 general admission / $10 student with ID / $15 with CC ID. Seating is limited and advanced ticket purchase is encouraged.
