Colorado Babe Ruth, Inc. and the Midwest Plains Regional Commissioner have set rules for Tournament play. Some of these rules are listed in the book, but may be overlooked. Other rules have been included to help eliminate problems that may arise. NOTE: Only the Babe Ruth Commissioner in charge, Regional Commissioner, or State Commissioner may waive/modify any of these rules.

Documentation, i.e. Books and Players

  • Proper positioning of Credentials in book and completed
  • All players listed for DISTRICT may play with corrections if needed. Exceptions will be Consent forTreatment, Birth Documentation and Insurance.
  • All players and coaches MUST be in attendance at CHECK-IN, PICNIC, and in Full Uniform for OPENING CEREMONIES to be eligible to participate in tournament play.
  • Books will be the property of Tournament Director until the team is released.
  • Players and Coaches do not have to be in uniform at check-in.

Dugouts

Only personnel allowed in the DUGOUTS are the Manager, 2 Coaches, Players, and Bat Person and must be listed on LEAGUE and Tournament Roster. Any player, bat person, fielder warm upperson, or retrieving foul balls will wear a helmet.

Pitching

If a player is warming up a pitcher, he MUST wear full gear.

Coaches and Manager

  • Will be in Full Baseball Uniform, matching uniforms not a necessity, and NO SHORTS.
  • Only rostered players and coaches will be able to warm up and be on the Practice Field
  • Manager must stay in Tournament Hotel. Rooms are reserved by the Tournament Director and are the responsibility of the manager or the home league. This is for State and Regional tournaments.
  • Line up cards to official scorer 30 minutes prior to game time, with last name, first name, andall subs.
  • Coaches will STAY in the box, and stay TOTALLYin the dugout during Defense.
  • Coaches are also responsible their Fans. Unruly Fans can affect the sportsmanship of players.
  • All Substitutes will go through the Umpire.
  • No Tobacco.
  • Designated hitter is not permitted

Baseballs

Must be "Rawlings Official Babe Ruth or Cal Ripken Baseballs for Tournament play”

Tournament Brackets

  • Double Elimination or Round Robin schedules are permitted. Tournament commissioner has final approval of the tournament schedule and format.
  • Bottom team is home team in first round. After first round, a flip of a coin will designate home team.In an odd numbered tournament, the bye team will need a flip.

Jewelry

  • No Jewelry will be worn. Religious and Medical may be taped to chest. Wedding bands are OK. NO watches.

Misc.

  • Sportsmanship is a MUST.
  • It is Strongly Recommended that players slide into home if it is going to be a close play.
  • If a Player or Coach is ejected by a Field Official, they will sit out the rest of the Game and not be allowed to participate in the following game. The Tournament Commissioner has the right to remove them from competition if deemed necessary.
  • If the Tournament has no host families, It is the responsibility of the parents and coaches to have the players ready to play at the designated time.
  • No Throwing of bats and or helmets.
  • Be Positive at all times. No yelling at the opposing teams.
  • Dugouts are off limits to parents during the game.
  • Clean up the dugout when finished. Throw you gum in the trash, not on the field or dugout

Injury

If a player is injured, he may not re-enter the game, unless the umpire is notified prior to substitution .
