Dear Parents of 7th and 8th Grade Students:

Our records indicate that your student has now reached the age when it is possible for him/her to participate in Confirmation. Through Confirmation, the church renews its commitment to the Christian growth and discipleship of your student. In the Confirmation process your student will be given the tools they will need to make a decision concerning their personal journey of faith. Registration is open until November 30th. We will have an informational parent meeting regarding Confirmation on September 18 at 11:00am in room 127.

Confirmation is a very thought out, carefully planned process. Each element that is included has a specific purpose and design. In order for your child to receive the information they need to make a personal decision about their faith, it is most important that they participate fully in the entireprocess, to include attendance at the retreat, off site worship visits, mission project and classroom meetings. Please see the enclosed schedule to determine if participating is an option for your family this year. The classes on Sunday will meet from 9:40-10:40am in Building 5.

We will have information packets available at the parent meeting, which include Confirmation registration forms. The Confirmation packet is also available on the Middle School page, under Student Ministries, on our church website at

The Youth Department asks you to partner with us in covering the costs associated with Confirmation. This fee helps to cover the expense of the retreat, curriculum, and supplies. The total fee is $100 (after the registration deadline of Nov. 30th this fee increases to $125). As with all Student Ministries programs, cost should not prevent participation. We have several options in place (scholarships, payment schedules, etc). Please contact me if you need financial assistance.

Confirmation Class Expectations

  1. Attend Confirmation Classes on Sunday mornings. Class begins January 8 and runs for 15weeks (not meeting on February 26 or March 12).
  1. Attend the following:

-Congregation Beth Israel (Jewish synagogue) on February 27 – Service is at

7pm. Meet at the synagogue at 6:15 for a 6:30 gathering reception.

-St. John Vianney Catholic Church on March 4 – Service is at 5:30pm. Meet at St.John Vianney at 5:15pm.

- Baptism/Communion service on April 2 at 6pm in the Family Life Center

- Confirmation service on April 9 at 5pm in the sanctuary –

Reception willfollow at 6pm.

  1. The weekend retreat is MANDATORY. The dates of the retreat are January 14-16,

2015. Parents must drop off and pick up students at Highland Lakes Camp on

Lake Travis.

  1. Students are required to complete at least 8 hours of mission work. The 8-hourmission opportunity will be offered on April 1, 2016 at an additional cost of $10. If your student is unable to attend the mission day we have planned, he/she willneed to present proof of at least 8 hours served with other organizations.
  1. Students cannot miss more than 2 weekly sessions. Students will need to complete

any sessions they miss on their own time.
