COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY/MILITARY/TECH VISIT REQUEST FORM

It is the policy of the administration to allow seniors to visit colleges for the purpose of gaining information. Permission to make college visits on a school day is reserved seniors. Each student may take two visits during his / her senior year. The student must follow these steps if he / she wishes to have an excused absence. All days must be taken by APRIL 1, unless the visit falls under the exception rule.

  1. Arrange for the visit through Mrs. Wassom.
  2. Complete Section I of this form prior to the visit.
  3. Complete Section II of this form during the visit.
  4. Turn in the completed form to Mrs. Wassom’s office upon your return to school.

Homework must be gathered by the student 2days before the visit.

Checklist For A Campus Visit

Meet with an admission counselor.

Verify admission requirements (tests and high school preparation.)

Discuss your chances for success in certain programs.

Find out how to apply.

Request a viewbook and other publications.

Determine college costs.

Ask about financial aid opportunities, as well as deadlines, forms required, etc.

Meet with faculty in the department of your intended major.

Ask questions about academic requirements.

Attend a class to get an idea of typical size, teaching style, and academic atmosphere.

Ask about the placement record for graduates in the field you might study.

Tour the campus (be sure to check out the residence halls, library, etc.)

Talk to students about the general academic environment and the amount and kind of study necessary for success.

Find out what student activities (clubs, organizations, intramurals, etc.) are available and about campus life in terms of dating and social activities.

Where do freshmen students live? Are all freshmen required to live on campus? How are roommates matched? What are the rules for visitors in the dorms? Is there a curfew during the week or on weekends? What are the hours?

What percent of the student body are Greek or non-Greek? (Fraternities & Sororities) What do students do on the weekend?
