ScripTalk Menu

Introduction
Overview / ScripTalk Main Menu [PSO SCRIPTALK MAIN MENU]
ScripTalk ® is the VA’s current Automated Prescription Reading Device (APRD), used to audibly read the drug name, prescription number, instructions for use and other important information to a blind or visually impaired patient.
The menu described below has both end-user options that will typically be used by the pharmacists and technicians filling prescriptions, as well as system setup options for use by the Pharmacy Informaticist.
The ScripTalk system uses RFID-encoded prescription labels, generated by a proprietary Zebra printer, which are then “read” to the patient using a transistor-radio-sized reading device.
BOLD characters in the screen captures represent typed input.

Reinitialize ScripTalk Printer [PSO SCRIPTALK REINITIALIZE]

/ Task Queued ! / This option has no user interaction, and is used to send an initialization command to the ScripTalk printer. Use it when you want to perform a software ‘reset’ for troubleshooting purposes.
