B.  Faculty Affairs – Dr. Jessica Lane – Discussed the importance of course

evaluations and reminded people to be familiar with the protocol administering evaluations.

C.  Student Affairs – No Report

D.  Diversity for Community - No Report

E.  Technology – Dr. Ann Knackendoffel –

·  There were two Brown Bags workshops held for people doing alternative resources instead of a published textbook. There will be a call for new proposals soon. The Associate Dean’s Office and the Technology Committee will support these proposals. Those who have done projects can apply for research money to see the how the materials impacted students.

·  K-State Online Classic will phase out by the end of Fall 2015 as the campus moves to Canvas. Faculty Senate Technology Committee is looking to see how many are using Canvas, and trying to do their best to support faculty as they move their courses to Canvas. Contact Dr. Knackendoffel if current training is not meeting your needs. COE has more faculty using Canvas than other colleges. Dr. Frank Spikes mentioned that training fills quickly. Rosemary Boggs said that future training dates are on the HRIS website, see http://www.k-state.edu/canvas/training.html for dates. Scott Finkeldei is willing to do individual or departmental training. If you have training done at the departmental level, they can help set it up by objectives so things feed into assessment reports at the end. Classic KSOL will be archived and no classes will be able to access it after Fall 2015, but faculty should be able to go back to data. Mediasite is a separate training (http://www.k-state.edu/mediasite/).

Special Presentation – Outstanding University Support Employee was presented to Gisela Nash, Senior Administrative Assistant in the CIMA Center. On behalf of the College, Dr. Staples gave congratulations and presented with flowers.

·  Celebrating the College of Education’s 50th anniversary will start at Open House, and continue throughout the year. We will put together an ad hoc committee to put together ideas. One example is that the National Association of Multi-Cultural Education began at KSU. We need to put this information and other things out so everyone is aware of our rich history.

·  We had 61 faculty and staff members of COE at the Annual MLK luncheon A profound statement given the by the speaker was – “If you don’t choose this line, you are in the wrong line.”

We now need to think about how are we going to implement them into our programs. We have used Danielson’s Framework infused with NTASC. KSDE has asked us to do a complete program study based on the new Professional Education Standards, aligning our assessments to the new standards. Dr. Paul Burden has been asked to lead the discussion through PCC and Departments as we align all assessments and portfolios to the new standards. The Conceptual Framework will be reviewed with a fresh lens.
