‘Lattitude’ is a major project volunteering charity. They also have North London Bursaries which can help you go and volunteer abroad for a lot less!

Talk from: ‘Degrees Ahead’, Thursday 10th November 12.30pm -1.30pm in Careers plus a stand in the Social Area from 1.30pm - 2.30pm

‘Degrees Ahead’ is an information agency and can advise you on any country you would like to study in, applications, entry requirements etc!

‘STUDENT FINANCE DAY’ 14th November

- Confused or worried by the changes to Student Finance for Uni for 2012?

IN COLLEGE:

Middlesex University’s ‘BIG RED SOFA’ event will be in the Social Area from 12.30pm – 2.30pm with expert advisers and lots of information to help you.

Joanna from Careers will also be there to advise you with our handouts.

LOCALLY:

Student Finance Information event for all! – Middlesex University, Hendon site 6.30pm - 8.30pm. Parents, students and teachers are all welcome for a major information evening – with talks and easy to use info to take away. This event is useful if applying to ANY University.

For lower 6th students:

Work Experience / Voluntary Work

Getting work experience or voluntary work will improve your CV, your employability and add to your application to University.

Actions for you to take now:

·  Complete your CV by clicking on the ‘Curriculum Vitae’ link on your Woodle profile.

·  See the ‘Work experience and Voluntary work’ page on Woodle Careers pages – with example cover letter – do yours to go with the CV.

·  Look at the Voluntary Work Board inside Careers and pick up leaflets from charities and handouts on how to get voluntary work in Careers.

·  See Joanna in Careers for help with CVs, or to search for a placement / voluntary work – essential for subjects like Law, Medicine, Psychology, Dentistry etc. Book a Careers appointment by writing your name on the list on the Careers Office door (office on the left).

For lower 6th students:

Get some Legal Work Experience!

Pinsent Masons is a large International Law Firm. Their one week work experience programme gives insight into the working life of a Commercial Lawyer.

Placements are in June, August and October 2012.
