Summary of the Post

To generate sales leads, positively engage with employers at SME, Corporate and Public Sector level, in order to negotiate and win sales opportunities that result in the delivery of bespoke training solutions that meet your individual and the College’s overall income targets.Toprovide business support and advice to new and existing employers, as well as work closely with Curriculum, Marketing, Student Recruitment, Contracts and other departments in order to develop, promote, fulfil and generate income from training programmes and other commercial offers.

Main Duties

  • Sales lead generation, including telemarketing, email campaigns, employer visits, tender presentations, attendance at networking events and other sales and marketing activities
  • To work towards meeting and exceeding individual / College targets by generating new and additional business opportunities within set parameters and timescales
  • Manage your own caseload of companies, establishing and developing positive employer relationships that result in new and repeat income generating opportunities
  • Market and promote all Barnsley College courses, training programmes and commercial services, as well as other funding, learning and work based learning initiatives and opportunities, to all key customers and stakeholders,
  • Provide support to cross-College departments to help develop and promote our offer and secure training and job outcomes for learners, this includes working on programme development, developing case studies, contributing to sales and marketing materials, delivering presentations and participating in a range of promotional activities as requested
  • To proactively engage, present to and collaborate with a range of partners, forums and networking groups (JobCentrePlus, Chamber of Commerce, Visitor Economy Forum, etc.)
  • Identify, interpret and utilise labour market information and data that supports sales lead, curriculum programme development and income generating opportunities
  • Create and maintain accurate prospecting and client records utilising College systems (e.g. Trackers, CRM, etc), updating lead generation, sales visits, proposals and agreements, conversations, communications and other activities within required timescales
  • Monitor activities / performance (e.g. outputs, budgets, recruitment, employer engagement) and prepare, analyse and report on current and projected positions relating to market share, lead generation, sales volumes, proposals, agreements and other employer engagement and College-related activities
  • Represent the College / Business Development Directorate at internal and external events as required
  • Co-ordinate and / or lead on various projects or aspects of business development ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements
  • To prepare and deliver appropriate reporting, sales and promotional activities using ICT and other appropriate media
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade as appropriate
  • The post holder will engage in any work development and implementation of College Quality systems

Method of Working

Considerable importance is attached to the public relations aspect of all work undertaken by Barnsley College staff.
