During my career I have undertaken all aspects of office administration tasks including handling correspondence, filing (including booking out, tracking and booking in where necessary), updating manuals, photocopying and scanning documents.
I have taken, in longhand, written up and distributed minutes of meetings. I have prepared and distributed agendas, booked delegates and rooms and chaired meetings.
I have prepared reports and written technical specifications, reference guides and manuals, tenders and invitations to tender. I have evaluated other specifications for impact on my department’s systems.
As a team leader I have interviewed internal and external candidates;planned, scheduled and tracked the work of team members; recorded these against targets and carried out appraisals. I have also supplied estimates for budget planning.
I am familiar with Microsoft Windows and several applications, such as Visio, in addition to Microsoft Office and similar from Lotus. I am proficient in Word and WordPro with a typing speed of 30 wpm and have little need of the spell check. I can use 123 and Excel including constructing formulae, coding lookups and databases, and writing simple VBA macros. I am familiar with PowerPoint, Access and FrontPage. I use Outlook daily.
I have had the opportunity to experience a variety of commercial sectors including IT, pensions, life assurance, general insurance, oil, gas, electricity, local government, retail, retail banking and the stock market.

As well as my demonstrated abilities I also haveknowledge of several PC systems and packages such asthe full Microsoft Office 2002 Professional (including VBA for Excel and Word), VisualBasic 6, Access, Visio, FrontPage, HTML, CSS, XML, UML, JavaScript, and FTP.
This is a non-technical extract of my full CV. It shows a selection of roles showing where administration tasks or liaison with non-technical personnel were important.
Other positions without these aspects have been omitted.
Various temporary jobs 2001 – present.
I’m currently working as a driver for an accident management company delivering a wide variety cars and vans to customers and bodyshops and collecting them at the end of the hire period. This includes working with clients to ensure the necessary paperwork is understood and signed.
Abbey National plc. July 2000 – December 2000
I worked in the Life and Pensions team supporting and enhancing the CAPSIL-based system. I worked with non-technical users to script adhoc enquiries to the database. I supported it and users’ spreadsheets (both Excel and Lotus 123) through User Acceptance Testing.
National Westminster Bank plc. July 1998 - January 1999
For part of this time I was consultant to the Cheque Clearing team. My task was to define how to build links between the existing, tracking DB2 database and the proprietary database on WindowsNT4 server that the new machinery used.
J Sainsbury plc. December 1997 - June 1998
I wrote and executed the before and after Systems Test and User Acceptance Test scripts for the General Data Returns system which was converted to COBOL/370 and Year 2000 compliance by an offshore software house.

Andersen Consulting / Seeboard plc July 1996 - December 1996
I worked in the team co-ordinating specialist teams specifying the bridging between legacy systems and a new system (replacing most of the oldest one) on client/server hardware. I wrote many of the simpler, standard bridges and data conversion programs and adapted the JCL for systems testing. I wrote the specification for the legacy side of the FTP data transfers. Later, I wrote several data extract/analyses (including a complex, fuzzy logic one formatted to load into a remote user’s Excel) and performed maintenance work on the old system.
Shell International Petroleum Company Ltd. January 1991 - March 1995
I supported the Pensions Administration systems. In particular I did 2 major changes to the pensions payroll system to implement Save As You Earn and ‘K’ tax codes. There were 3 teams of users. The principal one requiring most support looked after the personnel side for current employees. The next was the public face: the pensions payroll of retired employees and their dependents. The final team was the auditors who only required a minimum of assistance, mostly at year end.
I received formal training in Windows, Word and Excel during this time.
