Old business and approval of last meeting’s minutes

Carnival
May 27th 4-7 pm Luau theme
Food options – looked at the option of food trucks but hired the Kinsmen who will bring a BBQ. They will cook and serve. $7 for meal (hot dog/ hamburger and chips) Pre-sale option preferred but some items for sale on the day. What about children’s prices? Pre-sale and children’s could be slightly cheaper. Staggered pricing (up to a certain date –one price etc.) STILL TO BE DECIDED
Set up a mini restaurant area (tables, utensils)
Carnival publicity – posters and such to advertise, email address
Door prizes and auction looking to Local business and Parent contacts for larger ticket items. Ideas include:
·  Silent auction.
·  Balloon ticket to raise money for the prize draws.
·  Each division could still raise a basket.
·  combination lock on a box (you try a combination to win) large prize
·  Heads or tails game for big ticket items.
Events to keep participants at the carnival
·  Demonstrations and entertainment (live music)
·  PNE fresh carnival games we can borrow. Large scale games/activities (Jenga, gladiators, hungry hippo, pony rides)
·  cotton candy, popcorn, cake walk,
·  volunteers, sport teams can run the games or Kway students, scouts/girl guides
·  Games .50$, pony rides more
·  Prizes – punch card or a similar idea for up trading
·  leis/beads/slinkies/ as prizes
·  continue free games – find the games
Questions to be answered:
·  Engaging local businesses to link with us and other schools
·  How much can we spend on acquiring games and events
Next steps: booking items and advanced payments etc. There will be a skeleton plan for the day at the next meeting. Also looking for volunteers to round out the committee. CONTACT / Steve Darling

Standing Items
A.  Year Book
Results of survey was 60 % in favour of year books. Cristin has been in contact with Mountain West in place of Life Touch. Mountain West supplies the template for the year book and the class photos. But the rest would need to be done by PAC with photos etc. forwarded by school staff.
Would need to be to them done by May 17th, for June 17th delivery. priced at $12.50
B.  Fruit and Veggie fridge
Ms. Birnie has been in contact with Fruit and Veg and we have been approved for a grant for a new fridge. The PAC has been asked to support the rest of the cost which will be split with the school.

C.  Items /activities for the School OPTIONS TO BE PUT TO STAFF
·  Roller blading – 4.5 days $1250 + tax includes helmets/skates – two blocks for each class plus after school
·  Tennis – 4 sessions for all grades $8 per student. Modified tennis equipment and qualified coaching
·  Dance – hip hop $1000 for a week plus a performance at the end of the week.
·  Gym sense – 4 week program (perhaps Sept)
Voted for the tennis program. Cristin to approach Ms. Birnie
D.  Photo company for 2016/17
Mountain West – an option for photographs for next year. They also offer yearbooks for a cost. TBD at a later date
E.  KM club
Krista and Suzy have offered to continue the Km club for the remainder of the school year. April 25 is the start date. 10 days, volunteer list will be set up in near future. Tracy C. volunteered to coordinate and be the freezie organizer – in charge of getting the freezies to the right people and they will be here on time. Communicating with the volunteers.

Mega phone, Cooler, Markers etc.

Additional Items
Emergency bins – follow up with maintenance of the Earthquake Emergency equipment. Cristin is going to look into the purchase, maintenance of a new bin and removal of the old bin.
May 4th – Emergency drill – information to be sent home from the school.
