PrimaryCareNetworks(PCNs)areNot-for-Profit Corporations supportedbyanagreementbetweenAlbertaHealth(AH) andAlbertaHealthServices(AHS) with each PCN. PCNsarecollaborationsbetweenlocalphysiciangroupsandAHSZonestoenhancecomprehensiveprimarycareservicesinageographicarea.TheCold Lake PCNhasbeeninoperationsince2010andemploys 20multidisciplinary team members in 2 Nurse Practitioner (NP) led clinicsandincludes11physicianswhoworkinoneof4clinics.

TheRole

Cold Lake PCNisseekingapplicationsfromindividualsinterestedinservingasapublicvolunteer memberonthePCNBoardofDirectors to support the Board in the launch of this inaugural role.TheBoardofDirectorsisthelegalauthorityforCold Lake PCN. AsamemberoftheBoard,aDirectoractsinapositionoftrustforthemembershipandcommunity. ADirectorhasalegaldutytoactinthebestinterestofthecorporation. ApublicmembershareswiththeChairandothermembersoftheBoardtheresponsibilitiesof:governingthePCN,whichincludesformulatingpoliciesandprocessesthatenabletheBoardtomakeresponsibledecisionsonfiscalandclinicalmatters;fosteringthepurposeandvisionofthePCN;andhasacommitmenttothefinancialandsocialwell-beingofthePCNandtoprimarycarein general.

Qualifications

To be eligible, you would be required to possesssome ofthe following assets:

  • demonstration of business acumen
  • experience workingwithinnon-clinical industries
  • experience with seniorleadershipandgovernance
  • experiencewithBoardgovernance
  • experience with political advocacy
  • an understandingoftheprinciplesofCorporategovernance
  • anunderstandingoffinancialmatters
  • anunderstandingof legal matters
  • communityvolunteerinvolvement

Notes

Apublicmemberwill be appointedforatermof2 – 3 years. This position is not remunerated however related costs incurred personally would be reimbursedon prior approval of the Board. Meetings are bi-annual (November and May) however additionalmeetings may be called between regular meetings if required. Candidates that are short-listed would be asked to attend briefly during the next Board Meeting in November to meet the Board of Directors. Thispostingmaybeusedtofillbothexistingandfuturevacancies.
