Incident(s) Brief:

1)  Fatality Collision Investigation (01/13/13 @ 0301 hours in Zone 2) The Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) Unit is investigating a fatality collision, which occurred on Floyd Road and White Boulevard in Mableton, Georgia.

Preliminary information from investigators indicates that while a pedestrian was attempting to cross Floyd Road (in a easterly direction and not at a pedestrian crosswalk), the driver of a maroon 2004 Honda Accord struck him while traveling southbound on Floyd Road.

The pedestrian, identified as 29 year old John W. Kelly of Mableton, Georgia succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. .

The driver of the Honda has been identified as 30 year old Jason C. Bentley of Atlanta, Georgia. He was not injured in the crash.

Although this collision is still being investigated, the driver of the Honda is not expected to be charged.
