Nazarbayev University's School of Engineering invites applications for full-time faculty positions, beginning in August 2017in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Applicants should be of an Assistant Professor rank and higherwith Aeronautical Engineering expertise in the following application areas:

  2. Aerospace Materials
  3. Structures
  4. Propulsion
  5. Flight Mechanics
  6. Stability and Control

We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. Applicants should possess an earned PhD or equivalent degree.They are expected to have publications in reputable journals and conferences in their area of expertise. Applicants will be favorably considered if they possess industry experience and their interests align with that of the Department.

With innovation and research as its core values, the Department focuses in Fluid Mechanics, Energy Systems and Conversions, Control and Automation, Non-Conventional Machining Processes, Aerodynamics, Fire Engineering and Air Quality.

The Department offers programs for Bachelors, Masters, and PhDs, attracting the best students in the country. With the aim of a low student-to-faculty ratio of 10:1, the bachelor program emphasizes on inquiry based learning through research and applications.

Initial appointment is on a 3-year contract and subsequent contracts can be of 3 or 5 year durations. An internationalattractiveremuneration package will include:

●A competitive salary;

●A startup grant for conference travels and building collaborations;

●Paid leave of 56 days per annum;

●Two round trip flights for the appointee and dependents home per annum;

●International health insurance;

●Rent-free housing for the appointee and dependents;

●Assistance for relocation expenses including shipment allowance and air fares for the appointee and dependents; and,

●An educational allowance for dependent children.

The NU campus is located in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. Incoming faculty will enjoy a cosmopolitan living experience, interwoven with traditional cultural influences in food and entertainment.
