Independent Contractor Agreement

You are not an employee of Coastal Umpire Association. You are an independent contractor. Further, your signature on this agreement indicates that you have a full and complete understanding and agreethat you are not an employee and therefore not entitled to any customary employee benefits. Your total compensation will

be the flat fee provided to you. Your signing of this agreement is an irrevocable waiver of any right to any additional compensation or benefit from Coastal Umpire Association and/or any claim of any type or kind, including workman’s compensation benefits or other rights over and above those specified herein. This group will furnish you with a schedule of the game assignments through Arbitersports.com, therefore you must have an active e-mail account and check it on a regular basis for assignments. Block-off dates must be kept up to date on Arbitersports.com andassignments must be accepted promptly.

You further understand that the assigner has sole authority over all assignments and that you are not guaranteed any certain number of games.

Since you are not an employee of Coastal Umpire Association, no withholdings will be deducted from your fees:

However, the institutions we serve may report the fees on a form 1099 or other appropriate form to the Internal Revenue Service. I strongly suggest that you keep a record of your expenses.

By executing this letter of agreement, you acknowledge your understanding and agree that neither Coastal Umpire Association or any institution we serve will be liable to you in the event of any injury or loss of any type or kind. It is mandatory that each umpire furnish their own liability and accident insurance coverage.

You understand that your relationship with Coastal Umpire Association as an independent contractor is for

the current season only with consideration for future years based on my performance ratings. All umpires are required to disclose any personal relationships that could be perceived as real or potential conflicts of interest with the institutions in which we serve.

The registration fee will be sixty-five dollars US ( $ 65.00 US ).

Any umpire returning an assignment after acceptance of said assignment will be charged a twenty-five dollar ($25.00 US) rebooking fee payable within seventy-two (72) hours of the cancellation, with the exception of Extreme Emergencies. Any delinquent payment of the rebooking fee may result in the revocation of the remaining assignments.
