Coast Guard Faced Off Against Norwich in Their Second Match of the Quad Meet Gaining An

Coast Guard faced off against Norwich in their second match of the quad meet gaining an early lead, 6-0, after a forfeit at 125 by the Cadets.

Senior Nate Giorgio racked up his second win of the day at 133 with a 16-0 technical fall at the 2:05 mark pushing the Bears advantage to 11.

In the 141 match sophomore Matt McAllister earned a 14-5 major decision over junior James Duncan increasing Coast Guards lead to 15-0.

Sophomore Matt Vieira defeated sophomore Ben Swanson 10-5 at 149 as the Bears still had not dropped a point in the team score column on the day.

Freshman Chris Sullivan earned Coast Guard’s fifteenth victory of the day at 157 pinning senior Alex Kwnutis 6:04 into the match giving the Bear’s a 24-0 lead over the Cadets.

Sophomore Mike Palomba jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first round and road that momentum to a 13-5 major decision at 165 over freshman Zachary Gibson.

In the 174 pound match junior Mike Shermot followed up Palomba with another major decision defeating sophomore David Rogers 16-4 boosting Coast Guard’s advantage to 32.

Wagner earned his second win of the day defeating senior Nick Smith at 184 by a final score of 8-0.

Coast Guard continued rolling at 197 when senior Joel Wyman scored a 9-2 decision increasing Coast Guard’s lead to 39-0.

Howard completed the sweep of Norwich earning a decision over senior Steven Maldonado and giving the Bear’s a 42-0 victory over the Cadets pushing their record to 2-0 on the day.

In the marquee match of the day Coast Guard squared off against Johnson and Wales who are ranked 17th in the nation and won their first two matches of the day as well.
