Coaching Certification

  1. Go to
  2. On the orange bar, click the word Certification
  3. On the right hand side click on Coaching Certification
  4. Become familiar with all of the links on this page and all of the info found on this page
  5. The following help documents will be useful to “walk” you through the process:

On Coaching page – Online Coaching APPLICATION in TEACH Help Document

On Teach Online page – Need to self-register link/document

On Teach Online page – How to Enter or Edit Education Information in TEACH

To apply for the very first time…

  1. You will need to self-register - use the document to help you through the steps
  2. Once you get to your TEACH Home page (you’ll know what that is after you are done with the self-registering process, as it says “TEACH Home Page”) click on Apply for Certificate
  3. Use the Online Coaching APPLICATION in TEACH Help Document for the rest of the process. The How to Enter or Edit Education Information sheet will helpwith any “frustration” in this step. Be sure that you only use the help document for coaching application – not the other help document found on the TEACH Online page – that document is for teachers/other staff, and the selections they make for the application are different than those for coaches…
  4. Be sure that all required documentation is provided to the TST BOCES Certification Office.

For any subsequent/additional applications –

  1. Go to the TEACH log-in page
  2. Apply as you did the first time!
  3. Be sure that all required documentation is provided to the TST BOCES Certification Office.

Once all requirements are met (you have applied, paid for and provided all required documentation to the BOCES Certification Office), the BOCES Certification Officer will advise the AD and the District Superintendents office that the District Superintendent Statement must be entered in TEACH. Once that “last step” is completed, NYSED will be advised that all requirements have been met, and a request for issuance of the certificate will be made. NYSED now requires all paper documentation to be sent to them (by the Certification Officer) – once they “confirm” that all requirements are met, the certificate will issue. With this new extra step, the certification process will be delayed – so PLAN AHEAD, and apply early!!!
