Outline of the 30th Okinawa Youth Science Expo

1. Aims :To arouse student’s interests and enhance their involvement in Science.

To make a contribution to the promotion of Science Education and the training of engineers as key persons in Okinawa regional industries.

2. Divisions of Entries

a.) Elementary and Junior High school;(Japanese)

The projects that entered and received awards in Exhibition of Okinawa Juvenile Science-work.

(The projects are expected to be improved or modified)

b.) High school; (Japanese)

The projects must be made by the high school students in Okinawa prefecture.

c.) Higher vocational school(Japanese)

The projects must be made by the higher vocational school students in Okinawa prefecture.

d.) DoDDS;

The projects must be made by students in DoDDS. (2 or 3 projects from each school)

3. Projects of Entries

(1)Subjects of the projects are: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Earth science and Industry.

(2)Projects will be categorized in different section.

a.)Report section / : Projects are made based on experiments and observation.
b.)Production section / : Originally designed experimental apparatus or instruments.
c.)Article section / : Articles on energy and environmental issues.

(3)Projects could be made by either individuals or groups.

Date and Time / : January 11th (Friday)and 12th (Saturday), 2008.
Place / : The auditorium in the main building at The Okinawa Electric Power Co,.Inc.

4. Entry

5. Attention upon Entry

(1)Projects must be entered through school with entry form attached.

(2)Projects must have explanatory panel attached.

(a)Panel must be simple and within 2page. Size of panel should be B1 size(103cm×73cm)

(b)Panel must be made from lightweight material and easy to carry.(Veneer, cardboard, e.t.c.)

(3)If the project was continued project,

(a)Do not add the result from past, just attached the result from this year and enter.

(b)If you are going to attach result from past, make them simple and summarize in 2 or 3 pages report.

(c)If the result from past (original) was included in the project, it may be considered out of subject upon entry.

(4) Entry is limited to an original project. We have the case that is not commended for the project.

(5)Basically, the dimensions and the weights of projects are not limited, but breakable or decomposable, difficult to transport, handle or store, explosive or dangerous items are not acceptable.

(6)Entrants must take responsibilities for transportation and handling their projects before entry. After the entry, the sponsor will take responsibility for the projects. However, it will not be so in case of unforeseen accidents causes beyond its control and without its fault.

(7) About reproduction of information

(a) When you reprint letter information, please clarify the source.

(b) Basically, we do not recognize reproduction of image information from the Encyclopedias and the Web. When it is necessary, please get permission about the rights.

(c) When you use the concrete articles, please hide their brand name.

6. Judging

(1)The judging will be conducted in the end of January 2008.

(2)The judging will send out the invitations for opening ceremony to who are receiving the prize as a result.

7. Award ceremony

8. Exhibition of the projects

(1)Exhibition Date / : February 9th (Saturday) and 10th (Sunday), 2008
(2)Place / : Urasoe City Public Gym

9. Returning the projects

Sponsor will return the projects within 2 weeks after the exhibitions end. However, report that received Prize will be kept until around July 2008 for the purpose of making the brochure.
