Learning is fun!

Next Tuesday, we will be hosting our 3rd Learning Party entitled, “Fun with Vocabulary!” Our scholars are excited to show you what they are learning! We will share how our school incorporates music, movement and other strategies to help commit academic terms to memory.

This Friday, scholars will be bringing home their Winter Assessment data. This data lets Summit parents know where their scholar is performing in Math and Reading at this point in the school year. If you have any questions about this information, ple ase do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or administration.

Mark your calendars! February 26th at 6:45pm, we will be hosting our Black History concert and celebration! You will not want to miss this! Our wonderful music teacher, Ms. Kenny is working hard to prepare our scholars for a performance that will not disappoint. We hope to see you there!

Teacher Spotlight on….Ms. Barnett

Tanesha Barnett is currently teaching second grade at Tindley Summit Academy in Indianapolis. Prior to relocating to Indianapolis, she grew up in a southwest suburb of Chicago and received her Bachelor’s Degrees in English and Political Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Tanesha is currently enrolled at Marian University pursing a Masters of Arts in Teaching. Before joining the Tindley family, Tanesha worked with social justice programs involving voting rights and registration; minority enrollment and retention in college; educational equity; and safe housing and communities. These experiences allowed her to develop a passion for working in an educational capacity. Her strong belief that civil rights equity begins with access to a high quality education pushes her to work in the best interest of scholars. At Tindley, Tanesha wants to inspire a love of learning and build resilience in her scholars. Outside of Summit, Tanesha is a diehard Michigan Wolverine, avid reader, and spends time with a close network of family and friends that keep her grounded
