Week 3: Chapters 7 – 10; Talk C6, C10

Week 4: Chapters 11 – 14; Talk C11, C12

Week 5: Chapters 15 – 17; Talk C 15

Assignments: All written assignments are due at the beginning of class and at midnight of the day due for electronic submissions. Late penalties will be assessed for all late work. No handwritten assignments.

Talks (grad students only) – be prepared for speaking any day the week assigned

All written assignments will be designated in terms of “words” written rather than pages. Use at least 12 point font, 1 inch margins, left justification, single spacing is preferred to save paper. (Approximately 600 words per page.) Hard copies must be turned in at the beginning of class on the date due. An electronic version of the paper must be emailed by midnight of the same day so that the word count can be verified. Email copies of the assignments are NOT a replacement for the hard-copy except in very unusual circumstances and with prior approval. Grading on all written work will include grammar, spelling, organization, etc.

Chapter Presentations: Graduate student presentations will be 30 ± 5 minutes. Power Point slides are required. Bring copies of the slides printed 6 per page to be handed out to the class prior to the presentation.

Project Presentations: All students will make a 5 minute presentation on one of the Smart Projects listed in Section 17.3 on page 391. All students should be prepared to speak beginning on Tuesday of week 2.

Attendance: Regular attendance is expected of all students. Upon having 3 absences, a student will be advised to drop the class.
