CMLA – 60th Anniversary –

Quebec City –

Friday, June 3, 2011

The Canadian Maritime Law Association was founded in 1951, and so 2011 is the Association’s 60th birthday. To celebrate the occasion, a special event is planned, to be held in Quebec City in the elegant surroundings of the Fairmont Château Frontenac Hotel, on Friday, June 3, 2011. All CMLA members and their accompanying persons are cordially invited to join in the celebration on this historic occasion.

The CMLA’s 60th Annual General Meeting will start at 9:00 a.m. and should be terminated by noon. In the afternoon, members and guests will be free to explore the Old City while the Board of Directors meets. In the late afternoon, a cocktail reception will be held, followed by a gala dinner-dance in the evening. The Hotel’s world-renowned chef, Jean Soulard, is planning a special menu.

The Hotel is offering CMLA members and guests a special room rate of $209. a night (single or double occupancy) for up to three nights (Thursday, June 2; Friday, June 3 and Saturday, June 4). The fee for attending the meeting will be $200. each, plus $100. for accompanying persons, which includes a light continental breakfast (coffee, tea, juice, croissants) at the meeting, the cocktail reception and the dinner-dance (with wine).

CMLA members and guests wishing to stay at the Fairmont Château Frontenac, should contact Ms. Andrée Allaire at 1-418-650-7067. Credit cards will not be required when contacting Ms. Allaire, but will be requested upon arrival at the Château. Ms. Allaire will want to know what nights members and guests wish to reserve and the number of persons who will attend.

The CMLA hopes for a goodly attendance of its own members at this gala. Several members of the Maritime Law Association of the United States are also expected to attend.

Further information on registration will be sent to CMLA members in the near future. In the meantime those interested should save the date.
