Club Wolverine Hall of Fame

Each year’s inductee is honored at the annual banquet held in the spring.

2009-Inaugural Inductee

Denny Hill

The long-time Ann Arbor Pioneer swim coach is legendary for his high school teams which have won over 30 state championships, several national championships and several high school national records. He has also been inducted into several high school hall of fames. But few remember that Denny was the founder of Club Wolverine back in 1982. Jon Urbanchek reminded us of this and it was unanimous that Denny should be the initial inductee in the CW Hall of Fame. During Denny’s induction speech he told stories of how CW was developed and subsequently handed over to Urbanchek. Most importantly was Denny’s reason for forming CW. It was to allow Ann Arbor age-group swimmers to compete in national level meets as local clubs were not as focused on this aspect of swimming. And as they say, the rest is history.

2010 Inductee

Margaret Kelly

Margaret Kelly began her swimming career with the Ann Arbor Swim Club which became Club Wolverine in 2006. She is a home grown athlete who not only excelled in swimming but also in the class room. Her swimming accomplishments speak for itself (see loooong list below). At her induction she gave the age group kids in attendance a great motivational speech, telling them that much of her motivation was centered on ice cream sundaes.
