RULES

  1. The event is under ASA Law and ASA Technical Rules and in accordance with the promoter’s conditions.
  2. All swimmers must be registered with the ASA.
  3. The Referee’s decision shall be final.
  4. The pool length at Runnymede is 25m with 6 lanes in width, with anti-turbulence lane ropes. Please Note: The depth of the water under the starting blocks is 1.8m and the blocks are 0.5m from the level of the water. The depth of the water at the shallow end is 1.0m. No blocks are in use at the shallow end.
  5. Coaches and Team Managers are reminded that ONLYthose swimmers who have reached the standard of the ASA Preliminary and/or Competitive Start Award are permitted to start with a shallow racing dive from the poolside or starting blocks accordingly. If there is a false start, you must continue with a shallow racing dive, you must not topple into the water head downward as this is dangerous.
  6. GENERAL SAFETY: Everyone attending must take all necessary steps to ensure their own safety and the safety of others. Anyone observing anything they consider to be a safety hazard must report it IMMEDIATELY to the Referee or Promoter.
  7. Ages at Midnight 19th June 2016.
  8. Entries should be made on the official entry forms enclosed or photocopies and returned to Andrea Prophet with the correct entry fee. Entries will not be accepted without all sections being completed and the full entry fee being paid. The closing date for entries is Friday 13thMay. No late entries will be accepted under any circumstances after the closing DATE. Please do not cause any embarrassment by asking.
  9. Swimmers will be required to sign in, at least 30 minutes prior to advertised start times.
  10. All results will be forwarded to the ASA to be included on their rankings and will be acceptable qualifying for Essex County ASA Championships and ERASA 201 Championships.
  11. Warm up will be 30 minutes before the advertised start times. These times may be subject to slight adjustment, but we will endeavor to finalise the times as soon as possible, and notify you accordingly.
  12. Only authorised persons are permitted to be poolside during the gala.
  13. Coaches are responsible for swimmers during the warm up, and should supervise any of their swimmers at all times whilst on poolside. The instructions of the Officials and others in authority must be obeyed immediately.
  14. Competitors should report to the whipping area (clubroom) 10 minutes before the warm-up time, and remain in the area until all their races are finished. Coaches must ensure swimmers remain quiet for the start of each race especially whilst waiting in the stewarding area.
  15. All heats will be over the top starts (apart from backstroke).
  16. Mobile phones should be switched off at all times during the gala.
  17. Anything not covered by the above will be at the discretion of Runnymede Swimming Club, who reserves the right to amend the rules, without notice, if considered necessary for the smooth running and discipline of the event.
  18. Maps of the Fire exits etc. will be displayed on the notice board. Please make yourselves aware of this information.
  19. To meet the Licensing criteria all Officials must be registered and the minimum qualification of Judge being held by the official acting as Referee.
  20. Swimmers aged under 8 years are only permitted to enter the 25m and 50m events. Swimmers aged under 10 years are not permitted to enter the 100m events with the exception of the 100m IM event.
  21. The 400m Freestyle, 400m IM and the 200m Butterfly events are available to swimmers at the Coaching Teams discretion. In the event of these being oversubscribed for the time available to run these events the Coaching Team will make a final decision as to which swimmers will be unable to compete.
  22. All Club Members are allowed to compete, you must be up to date with your monthly fees, membership and ASA insurance monies to be eligible, and not have swam or have entered to swim at another club's championships after 1stJune 2016.
  23. One Trophy only is awarded to each eligible swimmer according to their overall highest placing in their age group (1st to 6th). Medals are presented to all competitors who are not placed in the top 6 in any event for the Championships.
  24. Award for the Top Boy and Top Girl in the following Age Groups – U/10, U/12, U/14, U/16, and Over 16 years. Points will be awarded for the 1st 10 places in every event in each of the specified Age Groups (10 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 10th place). The points will accumulate across all sessions.

In line with the recommendation in the ASA Child Protection Policy, the promoters of this event request that any person wishing to engage in any video, zoom or close range photography should register their details with staff at the spectator entry desk before carrying out any such photography.
