Art (Instructor: Lorrie Corlew)- One of greatest gifts God has given man is his ability to create and express himself in art. Come join this course and explore your potential gifting and talent in 3D art in clay and more, 2D art in painting and more.
Creative Writing (Instructor: John Leach) Once upon a time,…It was a dark and stormy night,… the beginnings of great stories often immediately capture the imagination and spirit of their readers. Come and learn and practice and write in this course that both examines great short stories and works together to produce new ones. Poems, lyrics and more will also be discussed.
Marine Life (Instructor: Lorraine Fourney & Lindsay Laughner) - The last great unexplored frontier is the ocean. With higher mountains and deeper valleys than anything on dry land, many species of life reside in these vast waters. This course will explore the environment and the creatures that live in the ocean’s quiet and dark depths, their patterns of living and migration and more.
Photography–(Instructor: Professional Photographer, Carl Cox)Exposure times, contrast, lighting, and many other factors associated with creating and taking good pictures will be incorporated in this working seminar. Further, this course will explore the skills and processes needed to improve your photography skills and produce that “perfect” shot.
Pivotal Moments in US History (Instructor: John Leach)- What would have happened if George Washington had been killed before the Revolutionary War? What if Eisenhower had not been part of planning the D-Day invasion in World War II? What would the United States look like today without Rockefeller’s oil or Carnegie’s steel? These questions and more will be explored and discussed in this unique and interesting history class.
The History and Practice of Karate (Instructor: Bob Buchanan)- Come explore and learn about the history, development, and discipline of the ancient art of Karate. You will be encouraged, challenge, and inspired through information, training, and accomplishment
Video Gaming(Instructor: Debbie Alexander)- Students will create their own working RPG (role playing) video game. Students will use RPG Maker VX/Ace software, which has been used to create recreational as well as commercial RPG games. RPG Maker allows a game designer of any level to create his own story, whether at a basic level or in a sophisticated design. The game design process allows students to emphasize their own interests; game design includes creating a story (complete with characters), designing maps(where the action takes place), adding special effects, game play elements (like puzzles), and battles.
