Information Session

  • Quiet Clean DC – Grif Johnson
  • Proposing a Bill - B22-0234 that requires that by the end of December, the sale of gas leaf blowers would not be permitted
  • 5 ANC’s have shown support and asking for:
  • ANC1B to adopt a resolution to support the bill
  • Request Chairman Mendelson to give the Bill a hearing
  • Shaw Main Street – Alexander Padro
  • Administrator for a $100,000 grant for businesses around the Wren development site: S st, 7th St GA Ave, Harvard, ave
  • Applications will be open on February 2nd until April 22nd
  • Simone Ellison is the grant manager and will be providing technical assistance for grantees
  • Ms. Gingold –Cardozo Students are interested in learning more about working with officials to enact change.

  • Proposing a small summer garden facing S Street: a patio for about 30 people, seated, dining only for lunch and dinner patrons.
  • ABRA voted to approve the application if hours were limited and changed to 1am during the weekend, 2am during the weekend.
  • Neighbors have concerns about the hours being too late on a residential street

Commissioner Green motioned to protest on protest the establishment on the effect on real property values; the effect on peace, order, and quiet, including the noise and litter provisions; and the effect upon residential parking needs and vehicular and pedestrian safety pending approval of a SA.

Motion dies for lack of a second

Commissioner Ackerman moved to approve the Committee’s recommendations, and drop the protest if hours are changed before the hearing.

Commissioner Green moved to approve the Committee’s recommendation to approve the occupancy permit.

Commissioner Squicciarini moved to accept the Committee’s recommendation and support the concept and design for a rear addition to building for the property at 2212 12th St NW (Square 271, Lot 197).

2018 ANC 1B Administrative and Operation Actions

Commissioner Smith moved to approve an Executive Committee slate of Commissioner Turner- Chair, Commissioner Mater- VC, Commissioner Bristol- Treasurer, Commissioner Squicciarini- Secretary, and Commissioner Hudson- Public Affairs/Government Relations Liaison.

Motion passed with unanimous consent.

  • Resolution authorizing 2018 ANC Security Fund participation and $25.00 payment.

Commissioner Bristol moved to approve the Financial Institution Signatory Authorization.

  • Appointment of Commissioner liaisons to Committees

Commissioner Mater moved to suspend the rules for election of Committee leadership for Commissioner appointments in January instead of February to facilitate smooth committee transition and operation. Community leader appointments will remain an agenda item for the February meeting.
