CODE OF CONDUCT FOR OFFICIALS/OFFICERS

Clonduff Officials/Officers shall at all times:

  • Act within the Rules and laws of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael
  • Have the highest standards of integrity, sportsmanship and discipline
  • Uphold the constitution of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael in the spirit as well as in the law
  • Provide leadership and motivate people to work for the aims and ideals of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael
  • Understand his/her exact role in relation to other Officials/Officers and units within Cumann Lúthchleas Gael
  • Accept that he/she should be subject to the authority of the relevant Committee/Council

Clonduff will endeavour to ensure that:

  • Officer posts are filled by the best people available, who are motivated and have the essential qualities of leadership and integrity
  • Officials/Officers themselves endeavour to earn the respect of the community
  • Officials/Officers have a positive commitment to general discipline and insistence on loyalty to the Club
  • The Club Executive agree a Code of Conduct dealing with such issues a sportsmanship, behaviour/tactics of team mentors, observance of age regulations, guidelines on teenage drinking and respect for the Club and its property
  • With regard to other games, The Club’s policy is, and shall remain, the insistence of full allegiance on the part of all its Officials/Officers and players to club teams and activities. Clonduff’s activities take precedence

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR DEALING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE

The Youth Officer shall:

  • Be a full member of The Club
  • Ensure matters dealing with youth games and other activities are regularly reviewed and discussed at Sub Committee and full club meetings
  • Ensure the involvement of young people in the running of the club by means of special projects
  • Ensure regular publication of Youth activities through “Clonduff Post” and local newspapers
  • Distribute/sell GAA promotional material and literature and ensure such material is available in local schools
  • Maintain a local library of videos covering local club games, inter-county, provincial and All Ireland games
  • Encourage participation in and assist in the promotion of Scór na nÓg within the Club
  • Encourage active participation of parent in aspects of Youth affairs in the club
  • Encourage participation of suitable adult workers in the Club and arrange training programmes if necessary
  • Ensure that at least one member of a Juvenile management team has First Aid training
  • Encourage visits to Croke Park and the museum
  • Submit names of nominated officials in charge of Youth teams to full committee. Upon approval, names to be submitted to South Down County Youth Board

Youth team Mentors/Managers:

  • Shall be selected rather than elected
  • Shall be paid-up members of The Club
  • Shall be female as well as male
  • Must act with decorum at all times
  • Undertake or work towards a minimum Foundation Level Coaching Award
  • Study the Juvenile Mentor Policy particular in relation to indiscipline
  • Ensure that all Youth players are enrolled as Youth members of the Club. Application form to be countersigned by a parent
  • Shall nominate a member of each Juvenile Management team to sign team sheets
  • Shall issue a definite timetable outlining practice sessions and games as far as is possible.
  • Shall agree a venue for meeting before departure for away games. This will also be the drop off point following these games. Arrangements to be made with parents for collection of children after home and away games.
  • Must ensure that less-talented players are given a fair change to improve their skills and are let participate in games. The South Down set-up of 3x20 min sessions for U12s covers this. The middle session caters for these children (the score in this session is not included in final result)
  • Endeavour to encourage a high level of sportsmanship among all their players
  • Must encourage respect for all Match Officials
  • Must confine themselves to the sidelines. Coaching from the end-line is prohibited and is not in the spirit of the game
  • Ascertain (in so far as possible) any medical condition/history of Youth players to help determine treatment in case of accidents
  • Encourage Youth players to play within their own age grades
  • Avoid fielding players 3 years younger than age grade except in exceptional circumstances
  • Attend a recognised First Aid Course
  • Ensure First Aid Box is available at all training sessions and at games
  • Ensure the stretcher is available at home games
  • Never take a risk with the health of a young player. If necessary, leave injured player on field and summon medical help rather than moving him/her. Keep such player warm, comfortable and keep reassuring him/her
  • Where necessary, bring injured player to doctor/hospital and notify parents as soon as possible (if they were not at the game)
  • Following injury, maintain contact with player
  • Complete accident/injury form
