The Valley Mental Health – Forensics Unit provides outpatient services for clientele court ordered for substance abuse, domestic violence, and other criminal charges. Patients participate in individual and group psychotherapy. They also receive psychological testing as required. Patients are referred from the State and Federal level for outpatient to intensive outpatient services. The Forensic Unit serves relatively high-functioning adults, intellectually low functioning adults, and those individuals who qualify as Severely and Persistently Mentally Ill (SPMI). This program is also a partner with local Mental Health Courts.

The Federal Medical Center in Rochester, Minnesota is an administrative facility for the Bureau of Prisons that provides medical and psychological/psychiatric services for federal inmates. The population consists of inmates with chronic and significant medical issues (e.g. cancer, TB, HIV), Severely and Persistently Mentally Ill (SPMI) inmates, and Civilly-committed inmates. The Mental Health Unit is designed for the evaluation and treatment of offenders with mental illnesses. Inmates assigned to this unit may be sent to the FMC directly from the U.S. District Courts or from other Bureau 6 of Prisons facilities.

  • Provided individual therapy to severe and persistently mentally ill and civilly-committed inmates.
