CLICKER SHORT-CUT SHEET

To make a new grid for a sentence writing activity:

File – choose “new grid set”

Templates (there is always a “show me” option that can give you instructions)

Pick “sentence building”

Pick “modeled sentence building”

Pick “4X2”

Create

Press the shift key while clicking on a cell to start typing in that cell

Edit – click on edit mode and a toolbar will open

When in edit mode, try changing the appearance of the grid, dragging new buttons into the grid , adding pictures and adding text to the buttons.

To get out of edit mode, either go back to “edit” and click on “edit mode” so that it isn’t checked or simply close the editing toolbar.

Change and remove pictures: Click on word and F12.

Change text in cell: shift and click on cell

Change cell background: cell properties, background color

Adding a second Grid:

  1. In edit mode click on the Clicker Explorer icon
  2. Drag the same dimension of overlay from the master grids to the right of the grid you have made in sequence 1.
  3. The grid name changes to sequence 1
  4. Rename it to the activity with a 2 after it
  5. Double click on the grid to open it and add the cells.

Basics:

* Top toolbar is to use when writing in the work space and the toolbar that appears when in edit mode is for editing the cells in a grid

* Drag pictures and shapes from editing toolbar to grid

* Right click on cells in grid to hear the word (when you’re not in edit mode)

* Right click on cell when in edit mode to edit the text

* When you click on a cell in the grid, the text and/or picture will appear in the work space above

* When writing in the work space, you can open an onscreen keyboard (the little ABC symbol) or a word bank for each letter of the alphabet (the list symbol)
