Click on “Begin a New Project” > NEXT
Import your photos
(Click on “Import Photos” and then select ALL the photos you want in your story)
Click on the first photo in your story and click NEXT
Type a title for your story if you wish.
You can edit the font style, size and colour by clicking on this icon.
When you are satisfied with your text, click NEXT
This is where you can narrate your story. This is the most powerful part of the Photostory for the students. They can put a voice to their image explaining what is happening, how the person is feeling, what happened before, what may happen afterwards …….
To narrate you will need a microphone ($8 from Dick Smiths). Plug the microphone into the correct socket on your laptop. When you are ready to start recording click on this icon:
When you have finished recording, click on the
icon to the right.
A really cool thing you can do with this software is zoom in on an area of a photo and then pan out.
To do this, click on Customise Motion
In this window you need to tick this box here
The on the left hand photo select the part of the photograph you want to start at.
In the right hand photo select the whole photo.
(You can reverse this by starting with the whole photo and then zooming in on one area of the photo)
Click SAVE > CLOSE when finished.
NOW REPEAT THE TITLE AND NARRATION process for each photograph.
The last stage is to add Music…
Click Select Music
Choose the music track from your music folders you have on your hard-drive.
(Or download some suitable music from a free media website, eg: ‘creative commons’)
Make sure you turn the volume down
otherwise your narration will be drowned out.
In the last window you must SAVE YOUR PROJECT
(of course you can save your project at any time and should do so at regular intervals!)
NB: Your ‘story’ is saved as two files:
An editable project file with the extension wp3
And a video file with the extension wmv
To play your ‘story’/video, double click on the ‘wmv’ file – which is usually automatically stored in your “My Videos” folder.
