Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

15 hours per week, Salary grade LC2 from £26,556 pro-rata

Fernwood is a delightful new Village to the South of Newark with modern well maintained facilities and surroundings with a modern Village Hall and Parish Office.

The Clerk to the Council will organise and provide services to the Parish Council and its elected members during the daytime and evening meetings. Ensure that all of the legal and financial requirements of the Council are complied with and manage the Village Hall. This post will also advise the Council on and assist in the formation of overall policies to be followed in respect of the Authority’s activities and in particular to produce all the information required for making effective decisions and implementing them.

Whilst the post is predominantly home based, there will be some daytime office work in the Council’s new purpose built office within the Village Hall, including the supervision of the Assistant Clerk and Village Hall Caretaker.

The Council is looking for a person with good organisational and communication skills who can work efficiently and effectively under pressure and on his/her own initiative. The person appointed will have financial, legal and administrative skills and will be computer literate. The successful person is expected to hold or be studying for the CiLCA 2015 or equivalent and have local government administrative experience.

Assistant Clerk Fernwood Parish Council

15 hours per week, Salary grade LC1 from £16,772 pro-rata

Fernwood is a delightful new Village to the South of Newark with modern well maintained facilities and surroundings with a modern Village Hall and Parish Office.

The Assistant Clerk will manage the letting of the Village Hall whilst providing a reception service for the Council for 2 1/2 hours per day from Monday to Friday. In addition it will provide administrative support to the Clerk to the Council and occasionally service meetings of the Council and its committees and provide an average of 2.5 hours per week telephone support outside of office hours.

The Council is looking for a person with good organisational and communication skills who can work efficiently and effectively under pressure and on his/her own initiative. The person appointed will have GCSE Grade C maths and English and at least 2 years administration experience including working with figures and some experience of minuting meetings plus computer literacy and good familiarity with Office based package.
