Kell PTSA scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who have exhibited outstanding service and volunteerism to Kell, proven community involvement, demonstrated leadership characteristics and plans to continue their education. Applicant MUST be a member of Kell PTSA by March 13th of their senior year to apply for this scholarship.

DIRECTIONS: Please type the following three questions and your essay style answers. There is no minimum number of words required per answer, but each answer may not exceed 1 typed page. Do NOT include your name on or in your essay answers. Grammar and spelling count; so check your work.

  1. What have you done during your high school years to give back to Kell and our local community?

Please describe in detail the types of volunteer work and local community service in which you have been involved. Include your specific contributions; any initiatives you took; amount of time invested; leadership role you played; and impact of your efforts.

  1. Why do you believe you deserve this award? Justify the impact of your volunteer/service efforts and contributions on others, yourself and the community at large. Also, briefly describe what impact this scholarship will have for you.
  1. How and why should Kell freshman get involved in service to Kell and our local community? Explain the benefits of community service AND specific ways in which freshman can become involved.

All information must be returned to the front office by 3:30 pmon the March 13th, 2015. Applications will NOTbe accepted after that date/time or if left in an alternate location. Do not put your name on your Essays. Please attach FOUR (4) copies of your essay answers to the completed application and place in a sealed envelope marked to the “Attention of Kell PTSA Scholarships”. Additionally, include either a letter of recommendation from a non-Kell staff member or the name and phone number of a reference who can validate your volunteer efforts.
