Salary:£8.45 an hour, paid at the Living Wage. £4,394 a year working 10 hours a week (full time equivalent £16,478 working 37.5 hours a week).

The Old Music Hall

With its beautiful and traditional façade, The Old Music Hall stands out amongst the many eateries and independent shops for which the Cowley Road has become famous.

The building itself has always had community at its heart. Originally built in 1898 as a public hall, library and three shops, it has since been a music hall, theatre and cinema, as well as home to Blackwell’s Book Shop.

Today, as well as being The Ethical Property Company’s Head Office, almost 40 other fantastic organisation’s work within its varied and atmospheric offices - mainly charities, social enterprises and small local businesses.

Being based on the diverse and vibrant Cowley Road allows tenants to benefit from the great choice of local cafés and pubs nearby, while remaining close to good bus and train links to Oxford City Centre.

The Post

You will work closely with the Cleaning Supervisor, whowill help you to manage your day to day work and will give you tasks to complete, and will be your line manager.

Key Tasks

You will be responsible for the cleaning of the communal and office areas atThe Old Music Hall in Oxford,in line with an agreed schedule, along with clear guidelines which are provided for the materials and procedures in place, which you are expected to follow.

Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Ensuring that waste and recycling are put out for collection where applicable
  • Vacuuming carpets
  • Mopping floors
  • Cleaning surfaces, including internal glazing on doors etc.
  • Replenishing and refill consumables in the building, including; toilet rolls, refill hand soap, washing up liquid and others as appropriate
  • Ensuring lime-scale remover is applied to on kettles/taps/sinks/toilet and other areas as appropriate
  • Dusting stairs window ledges/balustrade/fire extinguishers/signageand other areas as appropriate
  • Clean toilets
  • Clean kitchens and fridges
  • Organise cleaning materials
  • Covering for other cleaners while they are on leave/training/other
  • Other tasks or projects in line with the level of the role

Other responsibilities:

  • Working within the company’s policies and procedures
  • Working to improve the company's social and environmental objectives
  • Other duties commensurate with the post
  • Attendance at company-wide events, including the staff conference, AGM, company training, etc.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of cleaning
  • Need to be a self-starter but with the ability to work as a member of a team
  • Will take a flexible attitude to your work
  • Have basic Health and Safety awareness and knowledge
  • Have some knowledge and interest in social and environmental issues, particularly recycling.

Contractual Details

This is a part-time position, ona permanent contract with a three-month probationary period. The salary is £8.45 an hour, paid at the Living Wage. £4,394.00 a year working 10 hours a week (full-time equivalent £16,478 working 37.5 hours a week). See below for the work pattern;

Tuesday / Non-working day
Wednesday / 5:00pm-8:00pm
Thursday / 5:00pm-7:00pm
Friday / 5:00pm-8:00pm
